Re: Fancy Leather Cases

I did see a thread where someone was using a leather smartphone belt holster and the ensuing argument about global trade, but that doesn’t quite fit the bill. That Valenta belt holder is made from sturdy felt lined leather. I bought a few (not sure if they are still available), and one already save...

Re: Why not a DM17BII?

Is there a summary anywhere of the capabilities of the various Solvers? Not that I know of. There are some articles online about the HP 27S and 19B (and 17Bii) solver, and there is also enough to find about the traditional RPN solvers (like in the 15C and the 42S). But I don't know about a comparis...

Home made alpha legends for the DM41X Beta

For my beta DM41X calculator, I made a quick Powerpoint alpha legends backside. It's a stopgap, of course, because eventually I will give in as well, and order a production DM41X for myself :) For the time being, I just taped over it with (ahem) "invisible" tape. Probably looks much better...

Re: Why not a DM17BII?

Does the solver in the iOS 17BII simulator product produce identical results for all the examples in the excellent HP book "HP 27S HP 19B Technical Applications" ? From memory, yes (but that is some time ago). If you specifically mean whether the simulator implements the L(), G(), and var...

Re: Why not a DM17BII?

Because it would be much more expensive than a second hand hp17bii that you can grab for a dozen bucks. I have two of those already, plus a full manual set; they go (or used to go?) cheap indeed. Cons: - no import / export / save & load state / ... - not a great display - solver is great but slow

The outcome of this poll looks to me like a landslide victory of the kind DT achieved recently. ;) Shall we count again?
Well, seems like I'm in the minority anyway

(BTW, I think a DM71 would be much more of a challenge than a DM17BII [note, not a Plus])

Re: DM42 works with USB but not battery

I was always a fan of duracell but I have to change that opinion. Had a few leaks recently, one in the tv remote and one in a wireless keyboard. These were the devices that didn't have the batteries replaced with eneloops yet. Checking some batteries it shows duracell made in Belgium and duracell m...

Re: Why not a DM17BII?

Why a plagiarism of a current HP calculator? Because it is not a current one? The HP 17BII+ (the current one) is crippled, because it is slower in parts than the 17BII, and because the L() and G() functions are implemented incorrectly. The 17BII Pro app (without the "plus") has the correc...

Why not a DM17BII?

There is an excellent iOS emulator for one of my favourite HP calculators, the HP 17BII: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/17bii-pro/id338125516 Having that software in a DM calculator (DM42 form factor) would be a dream come true for me! I am sure that a collaboration sounds easier than it is in practi...

Re: DM41X here! two or more requests

You might want to look at anti-reflective LCD screen protector foil, like also used for phones and cameras. That should reduce the glare massively.
