Re: Why MEMORY LOST When turned on?

The cells SM uses are good quality, though of course there are variations in all large lots. How long have you owned the 41X, do you use it without USB connected when doing large amounts of Flash-intensive operations, do you use programs with very long run-time (e.g. many minutes) also not on USB?. ...

Re: Why MEMORY LOST When turned on?

The issue is not the reliability of the 41X, but rather one of poor quality CR2032 batteries. The circuitry in the 41X can only read and report the voltage the battery provides, and when the battery's voltage drops off a sharp cliff in almost no time, there is nothing than can be done. Using good qu...

Re: Why MEMORY LOST When turned on?

As soon as you see the power-level is not 100%, change the battery (connect the USB cable to preserve power, and also remember to save your state file first). So, are you saying that the calculator can be operated on USB power w/o a battery ? NO, you should not do that, however connecting the USB c...

Re: Why MEMORY LOST When turned on?

When unexpected and/or unexplained ML occurs, the first thing you should do is replace the battery, with a brand-new, high-quality battery. The extremely rapid fall-off voltage of lithium coin cells makes it difficult (impossible?) to make any kind of linear fuel gauge, as can be seen by these obser...

Re: How to assess coin cell quality?

Just a frustrated comment here.... anytime anyone places an Amazon link to any product, and/or any product on any forum, that that Amazon product is "Currently Unavailable"???? https://uk.farnell.com/elenco/k-37/substitution-box-kit-resistor/dp/2819438 I just clicked the link and it's ava...

Re: May 2021 Speculations

At the moment, no public BETA period is planned or expected, however that could change in the future, and if so, an announcement will be made here on the SwissMicros Forum. As noted in the presentation, the DM32 will likely have a quite thorough set of help files, more extensive than prior models si...

Re: Why MEMORY LOST When turned on?

I just turned my DM41X on and it displayed MEMORY LOST. The battery is fine, so that should not be an issue. What might cause this, and how might I prevent this in the future? I'd really like to trust it to keep programs. It's impossible to suggest the cause without a LOT more information, however ...

Re: May 2021 Speculations

Can anyone tell me what the Function Preview button is Bob is talking about at 25:47 in his HHC video? Boub65 explained it well, but to clarify, the 32Sii does not have this feature, only the 41C models and the work-alike 42S from HP had this feature, but it's so useful and convenient, we decided t...

Re: Upgraded keypad

Isopropyl alcohol (90+%) will work best (do not use "rubbing alcohol" intended for use on skin), unless there is unusual amounts of adhesive residue from the original foil. If so, clean first with a "Goo-Gone" type of cleaner which is designed to be a solvent for any/all kinds of...

Re: HP71B (r even 75) with RPN calc?

There are several RPN calculator programs for the 71B, I have used one every day since the 80's. If you have a PIL-Box to easily connect your 71B to a PC to load programs from a LIF disk image, I can send you a copy, but the required overlay is harder to reproduce, even though scanned images are ava...
