Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

BTW, we already deviate from the HP-42S paradigm by not using its system flags. I know. I think that the DM42 might do well with an improved flag browser - as an option. Just my opinion. Did you see the description of STATUS in the OM ? I was referring to the DM42, but did I see the WP43S OM, [g][F...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

"All the major companies are doing it" is not much of a proof of effectiveness. It can also be a sign of a fad or groupthink. "Microsoft is doing it" is particularly weak. Microsoft has such an entrenched monopoly position that they can get away with pretty much anything. Read up on "stack ranking"...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

Why don't you want to argue with me? I'm a definite friend of constructive discussions. 8-) In my book, those are not the same thing. BTW, so am I. :-) Just don't you tell me what you don't like but tell me how to make it better. :) I think it has been mentioned enough already, but I find what the ...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

Eventually found out what you meant by CheckBox: seems you talk about a toggle actually. Yes. Also known by some - in my neck of the wood - as a user interface component intended for rendering the value of a boolean property. Mileages do vary. Some of them are just pairs like alphaON/alphaOFF. Thes...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

... Anyway, how would one convey which radio buttons belong together in a group? RadioButton: ... GroupBox: ... I never meant to introduce GroupBox as a separate concept. I only meant to point out the fact that a radio button only makes sense in the context of other radio buttons -- namely those ot...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

Some pixel work may pay.:) Walter's suggestion pixel playing paid off. I fixed the pixel spacing and Dani completed the radio buttons and added check boxes as well. The underlining idea did not work on the DM42, but the compressing of the words did work and saved some pixels to make space for the r...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

The RadioButton seems to be the space wasting alternative of the good ol' rotary switch. Precisely, and excellent analogy. Within a group, there is always exactly one radio button which is selected. No more, no less. In the wild, violations of this principle may be observed. The one example which c...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

And what's the difference between your RadioButton and your CheckBox? At least with both me and Dani answering, you get the same answer from two points of view. ... If I understand the question correctly, what might be left to clarify is the concept of a radio button group - i.e. when pressing one ...

Re: RTC Calibration program

Amazing ! Over a month has passed since I made the last calibration and there is no discernible change in the time setting when compared to my atomic watch. Amazing! You own an atomic watch! :o May I ask you for a picture? Thanks in advance. 8-) Sorry, it is top secret. ;) Isn't it also quite small...
