Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

... The way it’s written, the first part feels very intuitive, i.e. Normal press for normal business. Keep pressing, and the alternative f[FN] appears. Release if you want that. (#) But the second part above seems confusing. I would rather change it as such: Continuing from (#), keep it in for long...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

Now I was thinking to (in addition to the normal functionality) to add a double tap to FN1-6 for perform [f][FN] so that you can directly access the yellow line and blue line shifted functions on the soft keys. Of course triple tap brings up g. And the idea is to use the current timing system on th...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

I just want to make sure H2X is on the bus ;-) Jaco, if we ever meet I'm going to buy you a beer. Some time you're not driving the bus, that is... :-) I will need to let it simmer, but my first hunch is to be careful not to overextend ourselves. "Overloading" the shift key is easy for a number of r...

Re: 43S News

There is an old mathematical claim that all natural numbers from 1 to 100 can be expressed as sums of three cubes of integers, i.e. n=i^3+j^3+k^3 . Until 2018, this was proven for all n but 33 and 42 (sic!). Earlier this year, the proof for 33 was achieved at Bristol University (UK) using a superco...

Re: Cons (predominantly) and pros (if any) of agile development

Please, give me thousands of pages of well thought out project documentation before starting development in earnest. Hear, hear! I don't disagree. At all. I'd rather walk my dog (which in fact is quite enjoyable, you should see that happy creature when I say the magic word) than engage in fruitless...

Re: Cons (predominantly) and pros (if any) of agile development

My professional opinion after a decade of Agile methodology is extremely, extremely negative. I've seen much better results using Waterfall. Please, give me thousands of pages of well thought out project documentation before starting development in earnest. Explaining Software Development Methods B...

Re: Cons (predominantly) and pros (if any) of agile development

As someone noted in another discussion on this topic — I don't remember if it was on the MoHPC forum or in private — the question that appears to often not get asked before jumping on the Agile bandwagon is: What problem are you trying to solve? When an answer to that question is not forthcoming, e...

Re: Cons (predominantly) and pros (if any) of agile development

Duly noted. Brainless adaptation of any hype unsurprisingly leads to bad results and side effects.

Re: Cons (predominantly) and pros (if any) of agile development

Thanks, guys!

Yes, the Emperor's New Clothes springs to mind, as does Maslow's Hammer. And I have heard all I care for about managers recognizing the importance of talent - THEIR talent (alone).

Cons (predominantly) and pros (if any) of agile development

I am led to assume that this topic will be flooding over in no time. Anybody?
