Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

At the hhc 2019 there was some spare time available, therefor I thought it's a good opportunity to talk about the WP43C. A quarter hour before my talk, I quickly hacked some words together. So please bear with me when it seems to be confusing and stumbling at times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

DM42 issues ... still persist. I've been holding back on purchasing at least 2 DM42s (one for me, and one for my enthusiastic, tech minded 16 year old) until I was confident that those pesky keyboard issues had finally been resolved. So, you can imagine how deflated I felt when I read the following...

Re: buttons that don't register well

Has anyone tried replacing the dome switches? I purchased a DM42 and received it last weekend. I immediately loved everything about it except the keys. Keys were hard to press, and many of them could click without registering unless i pressed harder after the click. I decided I was intent on keepin...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

-First Q: Does the idea of a fixed HOME menu (in addition to the g[7] key and 3 x shift) appeal? Will it be better? Is there an improvement to this idea? A1: Honestly, it didn't immediately sound appealing, but it might grow on me. :-) I would like to see some examples, and learn a bit more about t...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

And since those archaic letters are not used for more than 1000 years, I don't see a pressing need for them - we also won't include Germanic runes etc. It may be ignorance on my part, but I am not aware of archaic Germanic contributions to math and science rivalling the Greek? You are right. I shou...

Enjoy Reno, I am sure the souped up DM42 (WP43C) will draw attention as it really looks like a DM42 until you switch it on ;-)
I concur! Eagerly awaiting feedback from the HHC... :-)

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

- We could use J (unused) to duplicate Epsilon and the alternate form of epsilon. (ε⍷) I have a feeling that duplicating things on "hard" keys would only confuse my muscle memory. After all, the Greek alphabet has fewer letters than the English, so it shouldn't be a requirement that every key is as...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C

Re. the Greek letters: I feel we may be at the limit of what the faceplate ca handle already. I also don't see myself having the need to type Greek nearly as much as Latin letters.

Do we need them on the "hard" keys at all?

Just asking...
