Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C
Nice read. Thanx jonmoore. I like the statement below: Having said all that, the engine room of interaction design is habit so regular use of most reasonable device layouts create a positive bias for it's idiosyncrasies. I agree to that statement. I also believe that great interaction design also s...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C
Great idea but I don't like the fixed filename. Could their be something like: if I specify a flle name like XXX we can save/load the state of the Calc, including the menu structure. And offcourse selecting the menu file by picking from a filebrowser like it is done on the HP41X? I think the abilit...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C
Haakon, more or less what you had in mind? More or less! I was also thinking about the extra menus for the g-shift labels, since different users might prefer one and not need the other. Or neither, once memory or a proper faceplate makes them obsolete - or if they prefer their own setup to anything...

Re: WP 43S Pilot Run (Poll!)
I don't know about the DM41X, but you can run it on the DM42. The WP43S has an entirely different keyboard, but if this bothers you, you could try the WP43C which has a keyboard layout which is compatible with the DM42 (the keys and yellow shifted labels are the same, and you can get on screen help...

Re: WP 43S Pilot Run (Poll!)
I have a quick question: I have the impression that the WP43S is already running on some user’s DM42 hardware, but I have searched and cannot find where instructions are to install this. Are these instructions readily available? Can some of the people who want to be in the pilot run but are over th...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C
Another option would be to have ->N, with N the mathematical notion for natural numbers. I know you won't want to change ab/d, but in this vain it could become ->Q with Q the mathematical notation for the rationals. Maybe a glyph for the arrow to save space? I agree that the concept is more of a co...

Re: 43S Alternative key layout --> WP43C
Maybe another alternative, given the context of other labels (e.g. [a b/c] and [.d]):
[a.]
