Re: DM42 Firmware V3.1 available

Absolutely. One of the production users was already writing his own help file content to augment the guide that shipped on his DM42. This also gives users the ability to carry occupation-specific reference material around where they might not have internet access or a way to keep their smart phone ...

I just confirmed this using the USB cable and charger for my HP Prime. I can can also confirm that my DM42 did not explode. :D
Oh, well sure it's fine with the Prime charger; your original question was about using your iPhone charger, well known to dislike non-Apple products ;)

Re: Powering the calculator from the USB port

My PC is turned off most of the time and I mostly use my iPad for web surfing and whatnot. In fact, I’m writing this reply on my iPad right now and my PC is far away from where I’m sitting. As to speed, I do have some calculation intensive programs that can run for hours on a slower machine. I gues...

Re: Powering the calculator from the USB port

I understand that if I connect the DM42 to my PC via the USB port that it will get power from the USB connection and will automatically switch to a higher clock speed. So, can I safely connect the cable to my iPhone charger, or will this damage my calculator ? No matter what the "official" reply is...

USA - One nation divided by a common language. Have you been to the deep South?
(Or from their perspective - Have you ever been to the far North?)

Re: GROFFIMG.BMP

I think it was decided not to remove it because that would in effect double the number of writes to the flash chip thus reducing its life quicker than if the file was left in place. Again, make sense. Maybe at some future point, change the filename to something self-documenting like GRTEMP or JUNK ...

Re: GROFFIMG.BMP

It's a feature. The image that was on-screen when the calculator (was) powered down has to be stored somewhere . RAM is pretty tight and the O/S tries to give as much as possible to the user. Storing the image in RAM so that it can be re-drawn on screen when the machine starts again would suck up 1...

Re: GROFFIMG.BMP

GROFFIMG.BMP is generated if one of the extended DM42 graphics modes ("GrMod" 2 or 3) is active, ie. if a graph rather than the stack is on screen, when the DM42 is powered off. Is that a bug, or a feature? If the latter, what is the intended use, or is it just some flag for internal use (e.g. if D...
