Re: buttons that don't register well

I have some surface mount dome switches here that you can't really hear, the dome is more or less exposed (Kapton film over the top) but on it's own substrate. It depends a lot on how everything is put together. Of course the switch is on a PCB in the end, but try putting a single one on a wooden s...

Re: buttons that don't register well

The nitpicking part is that I would personally prefer a bit softer feel - like the best HP's. How did they manage it? As mentioned, the force needed on the domes depends on their thickness. Then the plastic hinge of each button adds up too to the total force needed. The thinner the domes and the hi...

Re: buttons that don't register well

The decision has been made, obviously, but how noisy were they? What kind of switches were considered? I tried many different kinds. They all were too noisy, NG for use in a library or during a test. All have some dome inside, the diameter and the thickness of the dome affect how they sound and the...

Was there a particular reason why, say , low profile surface mount tact switches weren’t used instead ?
The reason for not using tact switches is because they are too noisy.

hardware related proposal.

43S could have USB OTG?

thanks
While the CPU is technically capable of USB OTG, the PCB doesn't power anything attached to USB.

Re: Where are the calculators manufactured?

The calculators are produced in China, final assembly is in done in Switzerland and that's also where they ship from.
I've just been visiting the production sites, see this video https://www.facebook.com/jeremy.chatela ... 105169073/

Re: buttons that don't register well

My keyboard has very poor feedback. I have the same issues with the enter key that many other have, and other keys are worse, the "0" key being the worst of all. It is almost unusable unless I watch the screen for each press. This is the same unit as here https://forum.swissmicros.com/viewtopic.php...

Re: February run of DM-42

I received my calculator about 1-1/2 weeks ago. I'm actually disappointed with mine. The keyboard is almost unusable. I get very poor feedback when I press the keys to the point that I have to make sure I'm watching the display at each press of a key for confirmation. I've read about loosening the ...
