Re: 43S News

@keithdalby Yes, I agree. I was hesitant to even refer to the Prime given the direction Hewlett Packard went with it ... almost pandering to the younger, more commercial end of the market ... while apparently abandoning the more traditional, nothing but excellence, and scientific/engineering minded....

Re: 43S News

Thank you. Yes, I understood how that works ... was just unclear about how the yellow and blue were generated: printed on a bezel, or displayed on the perimeter of high resolution colour screen. Had it been the later with a colour screen (the HP Prime for example) ... then WOW! That would open up a ...

Re: 43S News

Gentlemen, where does one get an image (a working layout like the preceding post) to work with / play around with for investigating 'what if' scenarios? Are these just static images, or are they the actual display of a working simulator ... ? Also, what kind of an echo is displayed on the screen whe...

Re: 43S News

Well, I'm still not sure ... I'm going off of the latest information I have, not being sure if there has been a platform definitively committed to at this point. What I have is what you kindly posted: https://forum.swissmicros.com/download/file.php?id=430 And I see colour in the bezel area. Is the c...

Re: 43S News

@dlachieze For a long time .... Stop Lights have been standardized. Red ball is top or left side of the array, amber ball is to the right of or below red. Green ball is below or to the right of amber. Turn arrows follow the same pattern. The colour blind may not be able to tell the colors apart, but...

Re: 43S News

Please forgive me ... but will the screen of the intended hardware (yet to be committed to) be able to display colour?

Re: 43S News

Then I must admit I misunderstood your post: I thought you were showing the HP-35S as your example of good shift key design. If not, however, why did you show this calculator at all? This world is enigmatic ... Though the HP tradition is simply f, g, and h for calculators with more than one shift k...

Re: 43S News

@Walter: Yes, I agree. The principle ... is the thing. From a guiding principle point of view (in the HP tradition at least) ... I am proposing that cleaner and leaner is the way to go. That means colour only. Haven't mentioned anything on arrows. However, I suppose one could posit that they might b...

Re: 43S News

Consider a pared down, cleaner aesthetic. Consider no letter ... at all. Eliminate any (and all) unnecessary clutter. What needs to be communicated by these keys (their sole purpose) can be achieved more efficiently, indeed more effectively ... by the use colour alone. I propose/contend that this pa...

Please include me in your mail-out as well. I only hope I can return the favour in the future. Thank you ... very much!
