Now if you could come up with a pic of Jan Lukasiewicz, you'd really have something! :)
All you have to do is ask :)
What software do you use to convert photos to b/w 1-bit color depth? When I use PAINT.NET to do it, the pictures are just about unrecognizeable.

Re: OFFIMG: Leibniz and Hewlett Re: A few to get you started

Two people that are important in calculating history; Leibniz and Hewlett. I've tested and uploaded them here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2n04wwq9lgtp23e/AACP1EcDOrMCDvlmK1auz0vta?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2n04wwq9lgtp23e/AADBQI7UyPD_XliOFEVPPDgUa/hewlett2c.bmp?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/sh...

Re: What would be the ultimate calculator in 2017?

Real programming languages, like python for instance, are just more readable and maintainable in this respect.... Also, I'm not 100% certain, as it can depend on your definition, but I think RPN and RPL are real programming languages; while agreeably more primitive, they are also far easier to lear...

Re: What would be the ultimate calculator in 2017?

Anyway, all this chat just convinces me that the ultimate imaginary pocket computer in 2017 would be a DM42* that runs python (or similar). I tend to agree about DM42. But maybe not with a Python, but Lua? function fact (n) if n==0 then return 1 else return n * (fact(n-1)) end end print ("enter a n...

Re: What would be the ultimate calculator in 2017?

For me, as an occasional calculator user, the "Greatest calculator of all time" will be the HP-21, just because it is not programmable. The problem with those "ad-hoc" programs in programmable calculators are that they are largely undocumented so I always forget what it is supposed to do, which par...

Re: What would be the ultimate calculator in 2017?

*PS I assume that people believe the HP42s to have been the greatest calculator of all time - but maybe I'm wrong? When asked what their favorite calculator is, a lot of people on the HP Museum Forum mention the HP-42S. "Greatest calculator of all time" is rather more grandiose, and makes a claim t...

Re: What would be the ultimate calculator in 2017?

Project Euler is a website with some easier and some fiendishly tricky puzzles. They all require at least an element of maths and programming to solve. I'll be impressed if anyone can use their HP calculator to solve any! I took a trivial problem from the list: what is the sum of the natural number...

Re: Inspiring the next generation of RPN users

Even the DM10 is overkill with its L.R. and PRGM for school kids. But if you think of RPN for the next generation, give them an eight-level stack! Give them a machine with a stack limited only by available memory (RPL) :) No no! Anything but RPL! When I type something on the keyboard, I want it in ...

For those of you who like to peek a bit, look at the first picture here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/wp43s/
So when can we order one? :)
