Re: DM42 Firmware Update Policy

Plus42 for Windows, Mac, and Linux will be GPLv2-licensed just like Free42, only the Android and iOS versions will be closed source. From a licensing perspective, there is no reason not to run Plus42 on the DM42. There might be technical challenges, of course, like making it use the big screen prope...

Re: DM42 resets during program run

I don't know that I'll be posting again. Consensus seems to be I'm too far out of bounds in too many ways to be useful. I hope you keep posting! You're certainly pushing the Free42 / DM42 platform harder than most people, but I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If the DM42 crashes are d...

Is the memory leak that was fixed in 3.0.3 considered an unscheduled-update-worthy bug?
The plan is to release an update for the DM42 including Free42 3.0.3 next week. This will kick off the quarterly update schedule.

Re: DM42 Firmware Update Policy

Even if it doesn't, being able to respond with a link to the policy would be a win. I personally get a lot of use out of my FAQ because it allows me to respond to many questions by simply replying with a link to the appropriate FAQ item. It beats having to compose an actual message every time.

Re: free42 3.01 new comparison functions

Yes, the new comparison functions have a memory leak. This was fixed in Free42 3.0.3, but the DM42 firmware does not have that fix yet.

Re: free42 3.01 new comparison functions

They're in the PRGM sub-catalog: [Shift] [+] [▼] [LOG] [▼] for the comparisons with X, and another [▼] for the comparisons with 0. In 3.0.3, they're in sub-sub-catalogs of their own: [Shift] [+] [▼] [LOG] [▲], then [LN] for the comparisons with 0 or [XEQ] for the comparisons with X. Using them shoul...

Re: Difference in handling of NSTCK-stack and 4STCK-stack

Yes, it was intentionally implemented differently this way. In NSTK mode, during number entry, the [ENTER] key terminates number entry, without duplicating level 1; if number entry is not active, the [ENTER] key performs DUP, duplicating level 1 without disabling stack lift. Furthermore, when [←] te...

Re: Memory leak in program execution?

Replacing the "X>?" command by a more traditional "X>Y" construction does not lead to this loss. So my uneducated guess would be that the "X>?" instruction is leaking some memory. Confirmed. The same applies to all the new comparison functions. I'll fix this in 3.0.3.

Re: DM42/Free 42 feature request: "User mode"

HP-41-style USER mode is on my list of "low priority, not sure if I'll even do them or not" items.

In Free42, you can customize the keyboard using custom skins. Of course this is less flexible than true USER mode, and it doesn't help if you're using the DM42.
