Re: 43S News

Hmmh, variable names are a topic like car colours: everyone feels having a voice in that chapter. How about some more calculatory or mathematical issues? Or some traps in the UI? Almost the entire functionality is available now except integrating, differentiating, and programming. I refuse to believ...

Re: Expand range of DATE functions?

There is a little sketch of the facts on p. 193 of the 43S Owner's Manual. Just FYI.

Please remember: bit is small and byte is greater, hence Mb for megabit and MB for megabyte.

Re: DM42 specs: doesn't it have 8MB of external flash?

They really should correct the tech specs to say 8MB (or is it mb for mebibyte?) QSPI Flash, or if they want to get really detailed, 1mb SoC Flash + 8mb QSPI Flash for storage (some used by OS/env). Please remember: bit is small and byte is greater, hence M b for megabit and M B for megabyte. And i...

Re: 43S News

When working with standards you should use the latest version, not an old one. For example, I’ve found in a preview of the 2019 version that: ... Which translates to "Binary operators, for example +, -, /, must be preceded and followed by a thin space." I don’t know if this is also in the...

Re: 43S News

Regarding slash: we decided to disallow / in user-created names. It's a pity but causing too much trouble.

Regarding that other character that must not be named here, please look up ISO 80000-2:
The symbol ÷ should not be used.

Re: 43S News

in the mathematics I was taught also long ago, "PI÷4" in an equation has only one interpretation: PI divided by 4. No doubt. But that mathematics also didn't allow a variable name "PI÷4", I bet. In the case we're talking about, a user-created (variable) name may contain any char...

Re: 43S News

There are a couple of nice examples on pp. 228ff of the OM making use of "/" in variable names. There, naming of variables to be used in programs is seen to be most easy and suiting the respective formulas. For variables to be used in equations, names of such kind will occur less frequentl...

Re: 43S News

I'll be certainly not easily convinced by inconsistencies. Why should we adopt them?
