Re: 43S News

There is a chapter 'Layouting' in the WP43S Reference Manual, starting on p. B-19. It contains a short discussion of your topic.

Regarding configuration, please see Section 6 of the WP43S Owner's Manual.

Generally, these manuals are your friends -- there's a lot of information in them. 8-)

Re: 43S News

Yes, in principle. But the 43S was basically thought as an advanced WP 34 S featuring a display allowing for menus. The WP 34 S was meant as an advancement of the HP-42S (and HP-16C) but was limited by the hardware of the HP-20b/30b. Roots and history of the WP 34 S can be found elsewhere (~2008 - 2...

Re: 43S News

... noticed that maybe a new model (DM43) is coming. Do you have a planned release date because depending on that I may wait for that instead. In addition to ctrclckws' statement: WP43S is a hobbyists's project, thus there are no planned dates. What's available so far: calculating with integers, an...

Re: 43S News

I read what you quoted from the HP-41C. You will get the same from the WP43S: Whenever you press a key, its current assignment will be displayed (in USER mode, this may deviate from what is printed on the keyboard). When you release it, this function will be executed. Holding it down for more than 1...

Re: May 2021 Speculations

Newbie to this forum. I am Eddie W. Shore from the MoHPC forum. I am thinking that the next calculator would be on the lines of the HP 25C or HP 45. Whatever the model is, I look forward to what SwissMicros does next. :D ... It could be the HP 25C, but not the HP 45, because the latter is not keyst...

Re: Keyboard template

Please note that is a classical CAD drawing - meaning the dimensioning doesn't make sense in real life. If you want to make an overlay, you will need a piece of flat material 89.5mm long and 72,5 mm wide. Furthermore, some dimensions are overdetermined. And following old tradition, no tolerances are...

Re: Keyboard template

That inter-key distance (IKD) on the top four rows of keys can be calculated easily: Key width is 7.7, overall width is 70.5, distance to the edge is 2.65. So IKD = ( 70,5 - 6 x 7.7 - 2 x 2.65 ) / 5 = 3.8 mm. And the width of the enter key is hence 2 x 7.7 + 3.8 = 19.2 mm.
