It's easy to calculate the number of functions you can feature if you don't allow for menus.
It's maximised when half the keys are prefix keys....

Re: Fancy Leather Cases

I did at one point and had some nice cases made both for printers and calculators.

The guy who made them was later convicted for child molestation and is spending a long time in gaol. A good thing IMO.

Re: 43S News

There are spaces in both the EXP and TRI menus, so we're not losing anything. Unless we start adding sec, cosec, cot and their hyperbolic equivalents  Jacobi's sn an cn are related to sin/sinh and cos/cosh respectively, so they might be a problem adding to the TRI menu (like sinh/cosh). The...

Since e^x, LN, and x^2 don't count, of course...
I don't really count x^2, I use square root far more often. To my mind x^2 is for programs, ENTER * is a nice and quick sequence and I rarely need to maintain the top of stack when I'm computing by hand.

Re: 43S News

I came up with a third possibility overnight. Instead of y^x in the blue shifted location, we could add a new menu for elliptic functions. These functions bridge the gap between hyperbolic (in EXP) and trigonometric (in TRI) so would be a natural fit there. What would be in such a menu: The differen...

Re: Spots on display, not pixels

I spoke too soon, the device came out of the oven about seven hours ago and one black pixel has returned. I'll give it another heating cycle and see.

Re: Spots on display, not pixels

My DM16 exhibited this problem and I tried Michael's solution: baked in our over at around 80℃ for a couple of hours. I let it cool and the marks are gone. I've not powered it up yet but will soon.

I didn't know LCDs did this.

Re: ROT XY on Floating Point numbers

Why 52 bits when using binary reals? 53 should be possible.
