Re: 43S News

The long-press function of the 41C is implemented in the WP43, so I'm not sure what you're getting at. Please do not remove it. The relavant point here is that the long-press function is always NOP. I'm not quite sure, but I think the 43C cycles through the shifted functions of the pressed key befor...

Re: May 2021 Speculations

Ha, HPMike beat me to it; I was going to post the same link.
Especially #9 drove me nuts, although admittedly other bugs can potentially have much worse consequences.
I don't want to spoil your fun if you like the device, though. I just didn't like it, and I'm happy as never before with my 41X now.

Re: May 2021 Speculations

[HP 35S] Yeah, I bought one of those a few years back. I thought, neat, a modern-ish HP RPN calculator! Boy, was I wrong. It looks appealing to classic HP users because of its design and, you know, RPN. But it is utterly cheaply made, which includes the buggy-as-hell (and non-updatable) firmware. It...

Re: 43S News

@Walter I'm fine with swapping INTS and BITS. @BK42 Actually, the issue with the shifted functions on the shift keys has been (briefly) discussed very recently. ;-) I'd prefer the shift keys not having secondary functions too, but I don't have a good idea where to put SNAP and USER either (which sho...

Re: 43S News

Thank you Walter for the pointer. My personal feeling is that the Correct(TM) behaviour for the shift keys would be: F, F -> (no shift) F, G -> G G, F -> F G, G -> (no shift) This just feels very intuitive to me, and it would also save you one keypress when you have accidentally pressed the wrong sh...

Re: 43S News

What is untypical for HP though, is having shifted functions on the shift keys. This still feels slightly "wrong" to me.
But I vaguely remember that this has been discussed already. (Although I don't remember what the reasoning was for keeping it like that.)

Re: 43S News

I actually do like the full color shift keys, and it's not like they are not typical for HP.

Re: 43S News

Beautiful.
Thanks for including the reason behind each change - it seems well thought out to me.

Re: 43S News

PS: And if I'll find out that I really use y^x so often that I want it directly on an unshifted key, there's always the User Mode.
