Re: DM41X vs DM42 vs WP-34S...

One way to look at it would be that the DM42 and DM41X are intended to be modern versions of existing calculators, namely the HP-42S, and HP-41CX. So choosing between those two is really a choice based on those existing RPN machines, both of which are extensively documented. Yep. The DM41X is reall...

Re: 43S News

Hi Walter & Jaco, Thanks both for the nice (and speedy!) replies. Yes, once I saw it in print (and confirmed in the video), that did seem familiar again. Sigh...This "memory getting old stuff" is for the birds. Oh well, I should have known the clever guys here would have thought of that already. :-)...

Re: 43S News

I accepted that key stickers will be needed. Hi Jaco, Do you really need stickers on the keys themselves ? On the DM42 (and hence the WP43S), can't the device be physically opened up and keys moved around to match whatever your proposed branch provides in its firmware? Obviously, you still need a s...

Re: 43S News

There can be no doubt you started your HP calculator use with a Voyager or Pioneer. Not judging, just observing. And though I prefer the earlier layout (since it was perfect after all) it's good IMHO that Jaco laid early groundwork for 43S users that prefer this clealry incorrect layout, for folks ...

Re: 43S News

Jaco, I have to say... Your modified/unofficial layout is *exactly* what I would prefer myself: 1) Math operators on the right --- just like the 34S and other "late" RPN calcs 2) top-to-bottom order of math operators matches 34S and other late RPN. 3) XEQ / ↑ / ↓ / EXIT on left with same order as on...

Re: Another 43S poll

I (a native English speaker) vote for "B" as well. While I can admire the wordless elegance of "A", the likely buying market is all used to HP decades-old convention, I think. Also, it's one thing to discern a tiny degree marker ° from " on a 24-inch monitor, and another thing altogether on a pocket...

Re: DM 48 .... WHY NOT ?!!!

Personally I would like a dm48 / 50 with the power of 50 and the keyboard of 48. And I would definitely buy it. :!: Ahhh, that is the rub I am afraid. The hardest thing for anyone (even the "big guys") to do in the calculator world today is to make a make a keyboard like those HP had in the Pioneer...

Re: 43S News

While I tend to be a severe traditionalist, I really like this "delimit thousands with narrow space" option... keeps those long strings of digits from getting mixed in my head.
Looks great!

Re: 43S News

Yeah... I would truly prefer "molded color" shift keys as well, and would be willing to pay for that.
They will be taking a *lot* of use.
