Re: buttons that don't register well

It has been a couple weeks since I performed the Logan West keyboard procedure on the DM15L. I finally got around to doing it on the DM42 that I have, and I have to say that I'm pleased with the results. While it improves the feel, in my opinion, of both the DM15L and the DM42, it seemed to make mor...

Re: buttons that don't register well

Here it is: and remember, Swiss Micros has not yet said anything endorsing (or discouraging) this! https://youtu.be/ZDxVxw6_SKU Thanks for posting the video! I tried this on a DM15L, but didn't really notice a difference. Note: the DM15L that I carry with me has a fair amount of use and the keys ar...

Re: And still it keeps on going

[...] Having seen the source code for how the system chooses which icon to display depending on battery voltage, I knew there was a provision for a 7th icon that represents something more dire than the "empty" battery. So there is it, a sqeezed battery :) I noticed that...something to avo...

Is 1.90 volts the lowest you have seen? Have you replaced the battery yet? You know what they say about the curiosity and the cat...

Re: DM42 Firmware V3.5 available

Wow...that was easy! I just realized that my DM42 was running 3.4a and firmware 3.5 is available. Followed the instruction and installed the firmware while at lunch break. I am very impressed. Simple and quick using Debian. I wish every hardware manufacturer supplied what you need to update from Lin...

Re: Why was Stainless Steel used for the DM42?

Judging by the information in the post I quoted and the video, I think that the back cover and the LCD bezel are both made of titanium. (On the DMxxL series.) I received the DM42 that I ordered. I has a nice heft to it, with a sturdy case. I haven't removed the back cover to examine the metal - been...

Re: Txt to Raw and Raw to Txt

[...] Am I missing something very elementary? I can create a program on my DM42, but I cannot figure out how to save the TXT listing of that program off to a computer file. The DM42 can save my program to a .raw file on my pc or Mac, but how can I get the simple TXT program listing off of my DM42? ...

Re: Why was Stainless Steel used for the DM42?

As I understand it, the landscape SwissMicros calculators have a titanium case. I believe the early cc-sized models were made of titanium, but I do not believe any of the large (DM1xL/DM41L) models were ever made of Ti, and that even the smaller models no longer are. This was addressed in a post by...

Re: Why was Stainless Steel used for the DM42?

Stainless Steel is best since it has a very high tensile strength...It is very strong, much stronger than plain steel of the same thickness etc. That has been my experience. Why then do the stainless steel screws I use break far more readily that the plain steel ones? Stainless steel ones seem to b...

Re: Troubled waters

[...] SwissMicros must release all the code that is necessary to re-create their derived work of Free42, and the shell is very much part of that. Anything less is a blatant GPL violation. This looks very clear to me. I don't see any oversight or misunderstanding. I wish I was aware of this before I...
