Re: Rumors about serious HW upgrade - DM42c

Yes, still room for even further improvements, but we probably shouldn't expect to hear more from Dr. A.P. Rilsf Ool and his team until arrount the same time next year, as he possesses a certain peculiarity and an air of distraction.

Yes Steve, have a good nights sleep, and read it again, once you have passed midnight over there ;-)

Re: Happy Pi Day!!!

Thanks! That’s more than enough entertainment for a Friday night.
Very nostalgic to re-read PPC magazines.
Already briefly scanned the Pi article, never heard about this method before, very clever.

Re: Happy Pi Day!!!

Greetings, By using pi_dec (a 396-step program for the HP 41) published on PPC Calculator Journal V7 N5 Page 9 June 1980, 'PI TO 1,110 PLACES' by Ron Knapp, based on Machin's formula pi=16 arctan (1/5) - 4 arctan(1/239), I was able to get as a test 1,590 exact decimals of PI in 2 minutes and 12 sec...

Re: Happy Pi Day!!!

Nice one Jaymos! I made a C program, that also implements Leibniz series. A bit faster than the DM42, running this on my Lenovo X1: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/c1wx7j5x2jhco53tkmkw2/C_program_output.jpg?rlkey=n25hndlo1xuccgclsrihv4a3j&raw=1 Reaching the 13 correct digits in 1 000 000 000 000 ...

Re: DM42 dead after a long weekend

My DM42 also auto reset the other day, when I had it with me in my coat pocket. It wasn’t freezing, just down to ca 5°C. Could be the battery, that couldn’t cope with the low temperatures, but it is only a couple of months old. Can’t find any specs for the devices operating temperature range on SM w...

Re: C47 bezel available

Edit: this might help illustrate: a bar chart is a set of shapes with areas, but it's not confusing because the bars are all the same width. If the bars were different widths, we'd be in trouble. Here's an example of a pie chart that isn't distorted. :-) https://xkcd.com/688/  nice one
