Did you research the failure mode or look for prior reports of printer failure before writing such an accusatory title? Here's one from 2103.
I know HP was good but that's way ahead of its time!

Re: DM42 screen has broken

Just had a reply from Michael, and he's sending me a replacement screen and adhesive. Once again, Swiss Micros customer service is the best I've ever experienced.

Still saving up for a DM42L (I can dream). Maybe I'll end up buying a DM41X if the savings reaches that level before the DM42L exists

Re: DM42 screen has broken

You can see the crack across the inside of the screen, where it fell on the floor after coming completely away. Even if I could somehow repair the ribbon cable (which I am not sure is possible), the screen looks damaged now anyway. Such a shame.

DM42 screen has broken

Good evening, I'm a little upset. Today, as I lifted my calculator out of its case, the screen came off. As it did, I instinctively grabbed for it, and in doing so the ribbon cable completely ripped. Annotation 2020-07-16 195501.jpg I've emailed Michael, so hopefully I'll be able to get hold of a re...

Re: [DM42] Bug when turned on?

The problem has gone away. It was a battery problem. The new battery solves the problem. I should have thought of that first, it's not the first time I've been tricked by a cheap battery.

Re: [DM42] Bug when turned on?

What does 'fine' mean in volts ? (I once thought this is a technical forum ... ) Keith is a physics teacher. I'm sure he is able to ascertain what voltage range is "fine" himself. Certainly. But he asked us for suggestions. I can hardly help if I don't even know the simple facts. A...

actually stopped using my DM42
Is it the same behaviour when powered by USB?
Good suggestion. I've been doing some testing, and it only happens when battery powered. The battery meter on the calculator shows that it's fine 🤷 any suggestions?

Re: [DM42] Bug when turned on?

If folk are running the same software and not having the same issues, does that make this a hardware issue?

[DM42] Bug when turned on?

Good morning calculator fans, When I first turn my calculator on after it being off for a little while (I don't know specifically how long), the screen has missing elements. It is not always the same missing elements each time this happens, but it happens every time. Here's a video of a particularly...
