Re: Deleting the .END. (maybe)

For what it's worth, here's my explanation of the situation. At least this is how I understand it. It is probably best not to think of all programs as separate. They are not. There is only one memory. When you start writing programs you start to fill up the memory from the top and work your way down...

Representation of numbers in PRGM mode

I was very happy when with free42 2.5.23 we got "Better handling of number lines: the visual difference between equivalent representations of a number is now preserved, so 1000 stays 1000 and is not turned into 1E3". Even though technically equivalent, looking for example at 16605390666E-3...

Re: Memory leak in program execution?

Great. Thanks for the quick confirmation.

Now I'll just have to find a workaround on my DM42 so that I can continue to write my plotting program without running out of memory till the fix is picked up in the DM42 firmware...

Re: Memory leak in program execution?

I think I got the memory leak pretty much narrowed down now. After some more trial and error I came up with a rather minimal example. LBL "TEST" 1 STO "A" 0 LBL 01 X>? "A" RTN 1 + GTO 01 END With each execution of above code I lose 120 bytes of memory. Replacing the &qu...

Re: Memory leak in program execution?

Ah right, I forgot about that one: 4-level stack. "Dynamic Stack Extension" is disabled in the Settings menu.

Memory leak in program execution?

I am continuing to experiment with the HP82240A printer and trying my hands at yet another plotting program. For this my plan was to start with a rough framework to print a frame around the plot, tic marks and tic labels. During my testing I suddenly ran into an "Insufficient memory" messa...

Re: Alignment of "print program" output

The right-handed alignment in NORM mode is useful, at least on the 82143A, because it prints faster. The home position of the print head is at the right, and it has to move a bit to the left and then back to the right in order to advance the paper. So in MAN mode, the print head has to move all the...

Re: Alignment of "print program" output

Thomas, thank you very much for the clarification. So it was a design decision. Interesting. :) I think I kind of get the TRACE variant which is structured and compact at the same time. Also the little extra space in the NORM output really helps readability. (I now observed this space on the Android...

Alignment of "print program" output

Having happily played with my new DM42 for some months now I finally also treated myself to a HP82240A printer. My first tries with this beauty were, of course, to try about every printing option possible, including PRP . The printout seemed quite strange to me, everything basically aligned to the r...
