Re: Internal FAT Lifetime
The flash memory is a macronix MX 25R6435F with a read write lifetime of 100.000 cycles. Source, my own DM41 (its IC 1) and https://www.macronix.com/Lists/Datasheet/Attachments/8868/MX25R6435F,%20Wide%20Range,%2064Mb,%20v1.6.pdf If you flash the memory 10 times a day the memory will in theory last ...

Internal FAT Lifetime
The DM41X user manual says that the internal flash has a limited number of write cycles. It says the number is large, but then gives a vague description of what might constitute a write cycle. Can someone explain to a non-software/non-electrical engineer what constitutes a write cycle? Saving a stat...

Re: Maths precision compared to DM42
It amazes me there might be a real world application where a difference in the 31st digit matters. I live in the engineering world where having six digits for the inputs to a calculation is very good, and it is usually fewer than that.

Here is a PDF that compares the features of the following HP calculator models: HP-32S, HP-32SII, HP 35S and HP-42S It is based on the comparison table available from the Museum of HP Calculators with additional information added. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TqkNgxBfZBq3WTc_0cRvW43zywO19nWj/vi...

Re: New "HP"-15C Collectors Edition
Production of the 35S moved to the Philippines in 2015. My guess is that the same was true of the 12C.

Re: Low Batt Indicator
My experience is that the battery indicator at top right does not give an accurate reading of the battery condition. Mine was showing four bars and would still lose memory when I turned it on.

Re: Why MEMORY LOST When turned on?
Yes, it does help that there seems to be a likely explanation for the behavior. The rub is that the question still remains of how do you know when you need to change the battery to avoid this problem to begin with? If my usage pattern remains the same I think I can gauge that. However if my usage pa...

Re: Why MEMORY LOST When turned on?
I received the unit on April 9, 2021. I have never used it connected to USB. I have not used flash-intensive applications. Every now and then I have used a program in an installed module (the standard modules that came with it). I have not used large programs, just short ones used for solver or inte...

Re: Why MEMORY LOST When turned on?
Nothing from SM that I have seen, but I have not really been looking. Perhaps the question should be whether they even know about it. Apparently it is not just my calculator. It displayed MEMORY LOST a couple of times this morning when turned on. So I found a screwdriver (at the office) and replaced...
