Re: WP 43S Pilot Run (Poll!)

I have to say: that really is a gorgeous screen on these devices.

Still waiting for my DM42 to arrive...

Re: CAS

Just a tongue-in-cheek comment that RPN lovers don't typically approve of CAS (if the math kind). If it's the collecting kind, it's just fine.... :D I am nothing if not atypical. When doing the analytical solutions for my Compton scattering labs, in RPN on my 48, it wasn't the Engineering building ...

Since CAS is an overloaded term here, I think you’re luckily the forum back end didn’t automatically delete the topic ;)
What sense would lead it to delete?

Re: CAS

Hello fellow CalcOholics, as a Free42 user it's just a couple of weeks ago that I took notice of SwissMicros and now I am suffering from CAS (Calculator Aquisition Syndrome) badly. After some 30 years my CX and 48 can get a well deserved rest now. Just let me thank everyone who donated their time, ...

Re: WP 43S Pilot Run (Poll!)

I have a 25 around here, I think, non-functional due to battery pack corrosion and missing external power supply. You probably know this already but just in case you don't: NEVER let any power supply close to your 25 unless it supplies just 3VDC of correct polarity! Forgetting this rule killed many...

Re: 43S News

You might want to look at the newRPL project if you haven’t already. For me WP43S is a continuation of the RPN style and newRPL is a continuation of the RPL style. I had looked at it: It’s missing things I would miss. Unfortunately Erable wasn’t quite up to things either as a CAS (after taking it t...

Re: 43S News

There’s a gap for me between the 49 and the 50. Releases in between I missed. Third party homages I just discovered. As for the surprise: functions more interesting than trig, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Bessel isn’t something I ever expect on a (late 80s) scientific calculator, and nume...

Re: WP 43S Pilot Run (Poll!)

That's life, my boy (I started HP with a 25C). If only 10% of those impatient lil'ones had supported us coding the project, you'd most probably have your 43S already for years. Alas, real life deviates from our wishes. That is so true: I was wishing for an mountain-top laboratory in the Ant...

Re: 43S News

I wasn’t going to suggest you do so, certainly not when you’re near shipping. Twenty years of shipping software does give me realistic views about such things. (I’d rather let Parisse write the CAS, and let others (as they’ve done) simply focus on how to host it. I’m being urged to do so, myself, bu...

Re: 43S News

So, to kinda set expectations here (since as I just learned about this project a week or two ago)... "Scientific" is a bit of a catch-all term, given the breadth of just the physical sciences alone and the different approaches each take toward computation. What is the specific target audie...
