Re: DMCP_SDK Hello World

Hello Vitasam, many thanks for checking this! It is reassuring that both files are executable. Also interesting, that the sizes reported by the DM42 also differ from the sizes within Linux (ls). Thomas Building images from the same sources using gcc running on Linux and Windows producing different ...

Re: Bug when connecting the USB cable

I just connected my DM42 running f/w Ver 3.71 to my PC via USB cable with no trouble; it worked as expected, files on Flash were visisble to the PC, etc. so the issue reported above is not present in all 3.7 f/w DM42 machines. I don't doubt that the 2 reports are real problems, I just wanted to veri...

Re: DM42 License Statement

Here is a simple 'Hello World!' demo application https://github.com/swissmicros/DMCP_SDK A simple RPN demo calculator application will follow. Thanks for sharing this Michael. Suggest this post and replies be moved to the new Developer Forum which is where most folks will look for it in the future.

Re: DM42 License Statement

I have no use for the source code (nor all this fuss about it), so I'll just wait for the next normal firmware update and update as normal. I don't see the point of updating the firmware when there is no functional difference between the last firmware version and this new open source one. One reaso...

Re: DM42 License Statement

Thanks for this update Michael, good news that the refactoring/redesign is completed! I suspect the instructions you posted will work as stated once the DMCP layer has been installed, but with the prior style f/w, nothing is automatically detected, at least on my machine (production unit with v3.5 i...

Re: saving variables anytime?

i'd like to save and load variables like with programs like now: setup -> file -> save variable in csv or ods/xls (open document/excel) format. how do others see this? Is this for 1 variable, or all variables at once? For 1, this seems a lot of s/w work, rather than just writing it down. For all va...

Re: Greek letters

[quote=Michael post_id=8344 time=1527259413 user_id=2 There are no plans to extend this character set. There appears to be 14 undefined character spaces there in your character map, surely these could be utilised with some greek math characters ?........ [/quote] I vote against such a change. A ver...

Re: Edit Help file from DM42

If the goal is to display these special characters/symbols on the DM42 display, it's impossible to say, since the html viewer implemented in the DM42 is not specifically documented. Once all the code has been released, it will be possible to research this, as SM almost certainly used some existing b...

Re: DM42 vs DM43S

The obvious answer here, and I'm surprised no one has posted it yet, is get both. The DM42 is available now and a wonderful machine, with pretty much universal praise. Even if you've never owned an HP-42S, if you know/like RPN, you will find it easy to learn and use, and in time with practice, even ...

Re: Inconsistant way of editing LBL and GTO targets

When the extended Alpha mode was first released (during beta testing) there were many (many!) variations suggested, debated, and even tested. The result was what we have today, so this is not new territory. This is not to say it is perfect or that it could not be improved (as Didier's suggestion sho...
