Re: 43S News

Another way to solve this issue while keeping the slash allowed in variable names would be to use the obelus symbol "÷" for the division operator as used on many calculators. This way, no more confusion between slash and division. Don't tell Walter about the obelus. ;) LOL... indeed, best...

Re: 43S News

For coherence and consistency as well as for a better user experience, either slash should not be allowed in variable names, or all operator symbols should be allowed in variable names and separated by a space when used as operators. 1 + Consistency and intuitive behavior are important. No doubt &q...

Re: 43S News

I agree, when needing to employ not frequently-used features/variables/etc. it is much better to be able to select them from menus. Walter finds his recommended solution easy to recall and use because it came from his mind, so it's not unusual to see his reluctance to change. Hopefully several folks...

Re: DM41X vs DM16L

Hi, Dear All I owned DM16L. I love DM41X and MD42's large screen. Just wondering if 41x/42 can do base number calculation as DM16L does? I checked their manual. It seems only capable of some basic base number function. For instance, it can do XOR AND but lack of SL SR ASR function. etc Regards Dani...

Re: Inspiring the next generation of RPN users

I own a 12C and DM16L. Both calculators don't display their program steps in "Hex", but instead use a co-ordinate system where 43 means 4 down 3 across. Number keys are given their literal values. Thank you for the clarifications. Till now I thought that this is really some kind of hex co...

Re: Inspiring the next generation of RPN users

The comment about the 4-level stack 'clearly' showing it's value was referring to decades worth of easily available publications, manuals, white papers, etc. from HP and the RPN community, which show the virtues of classic RPN. It was not intended to mean 'better' than other styles, simply that ther...

Qwerty? Obsolete? What do you type on? (...he asked, knowing this was exactly the point of making such a statement...)

Re: Editor bug using delete [VIDEO]

I'm not sure what you mean by "not supported"... This bug has been verified and acknowledged and will eventually be corrected, however since there is no data-loss or incorrect results, and is only a visual glitch in rarely encountered situations, and even then, not in all edit modes, it's ...

Re: Inspiring the next generation of RPN users

That was a joke for the initiated, coming from the fact that US-Americans are usually content with a confidence level of 95%, while people elsewhere are used to 99% (in statistics). Sorry for making complicated jokes. Won't do it too often. And yes, I hate having to explain jokes. This is news to m...

Re: Inspiring the next generation of RPN users

I agree that it is sometimes, even if rare, useful to have need for more than 4 stack levels, and resources in the 43S plentiful, so it makes sense to have this option, though it does slightly complicate the 43S ecosystem as when one shares a program it must be clearly stated that 8-level stack mode...
