Future updates from the fat storage should be ok. It sounds like your DM42 had an older firmware that lacked that capability prior to the update you just performed.

One mans edge case is another man's national emergency. Thanks Thomas for maintaining such a great project for so long. I may have mentioned that I started using free42 back in the days before iPhone and Android. It's near unheard of to see that kind of longevity in pocket sized tech.

Re: UPDATE: DMCP-3.12 / DM42-3.12

I am currently set @ PowerOFF mode = 1, showing the least current drain from the battery. Thanks for the info. I'm getting old because I looked all through the setup menus several times and missed the power off mode setting. I was at mode 1, but I'm trying out mode 3. I stopped hard fault resets by...

All is fine updating from 3.12t03; even Power OFF mode setting was retained!
Thank you.
I'd love to hear more about the power off modes.

I just tested reset.bmp on the root of the FAT drive and it works as advertised.

Re: Persistent Hard Fault

Yes, I agree. A fresh battery stopped the faults on start up.

When I get a chance, I'll try soldering the bridge across C1 and C3 as described previously for beta units viewtopic.php?f=5&t=230

Re: Persistent Hard Fault

this has started to happen to my beta unit. However, when I press "Exit", my last saved state is loaded and I don't even have to set the date or time. It's a little bit annoying, but I'm not having to spend any time recovering from it.

Combo flashed from FAT drive here. I'll keep an eye on battery consumption, but everything looks good so far.

Re: UPDATE: DMCP-3.10 / DM42-3.10

I have not experienced unusual battery drain on my beta unit through any of the updates. Out of curiosity, have you soldered the jumper that was described by Michael when production units shipped? I have not done so yet.
