Re: May 2021 Speculations

I too am wondering why there is no tentative release date. I sort of want to get in line, but there is no line yet. Can anyone with the applicable experience and memory of past products venture a guess? How many weeks or months were there before their official release when the DM41X or DM42 were at ...

Re: May 2022 Speculations

Aren't the "+"and "÷" functions swapped from where they traditionally are on HP and DM calculators -- with the exception of the HP41/DM41X?

Re: Calculating with Units

For the rest of the world, OTOH, this shouldn't be an issue anymore: once you put SI data in a reasonable calculation, your calculator will always return reasonable SI data; so there's no need for pulling through any units whatsoever. Before stating this as a general law I want to ask for confirmat...

Re: Inspiring the next generation of RPN users

Regarding a stack-overflow flag: Please forget it. It will never work since there are useful situations where you want all stack levels filled. Was discussed on this forum more than once. I fail to see how it could be an issue. The flag is set for the user to want to be told, or cleared if they do ...

Re: Inspiring the next generation of RPN users

Wouldn't this warrant the presence of an optional flag in the settings that could report "stack overflow" if a value is pushed out of stack by the addition of a new one?

Re: Getting User Input while using the alpha register

Taking it from the higher level, it is obvious that the caption you want displayed as a prompt has to be saved somewhere . Either it is present in the code or in variables that would be extracted (and therefore in need of storage prior to running) before being displayed. You cannot save data, includ...

Re: Request for feature: alternate font

No, the Size you showed is the largest for this font on the DM42 and two steps smaller as the DM41X font. So what you want is a LARGER font. How about restricting your focus on the real issue here? No, ask an optician and do an eye test. The DM41X font allows me to differentiate all Numbers without...

Re: 43S News

Not entirely accurate. Bell Laboratories did conduct extensive human factor studies before settling on the layout for telephones.

Re: 43S News

Seems you people thought pretty much of everything. Still, the reason for HP's original configuration remains a mystery. And the result of the survey probably shows people voting for what they are familiar, rather than what could be best; in essence, better is what people are accustomed to. And the ...

Re: 43S News

I was thinking along the lines of the rationale for the layout. Let me explain. At the risk of dating myself, in the early 1970's, Hewlett Packard introduced the HP-35, quickly followed by the HP-45, HP-55 and HP-65. They all had their basic arithmetic function buttons on the left of the numeric key...
