Re: Request for feature: alternate font

All (most of us) are asking for here is the mere option to change the font. this topic already ended with the second posting. Personally, I think these screens are absolutely beautiful and capable of far more than what this font is giving us - in my opinion this font is holding back the screen. int...

Re: Request for feature: alternate font

... although you did suggest an alternative. That part is not entirely correct. The DM42 font was already suggested several times six months ago (by the way, also by me). Apparently, driving up to 35 elements instead of 14 was seen as an improvement in terms of flexibility. No, not " apparentl...

Re: Persistent custom menu release 3.19.5

In the current version (3.19.7) there are only advantages compared to the original firmware and not a single disadvantage. In this respect, the function of the shift key is not a deal breaker. The actual shift key performance can offer advantages if you dessign a custom menu matching .... but there ...

Re: Request for feature: alternate font

The original thread was entitled " alternate font", there was no mention of the need to remove or replace the existing one. Yes, and I supported this idea when the thread was started. What I don't like are comments which speak against the original font without or with wrong arguments inst...

Re: Request for feature: alternate font

You say that as if it's a bad thing. First off all it is indecisive. 1) vgoudreault: "...that is done at the expense of enhanced readability and usability" The opposite is the case. I can't find not one example of any font on this display which is better readable, sharper or cleaner. I ca...

Re: Request for feature: alternate font

But the segment display is NOT used on the DM41X; it is an emulation that relies on dots, it relies on the same 400 x 240 pixels screen as used on the DM42. The Processor is not a NUT but an ARM and I think it's good that it runs an emulation for the HP41 and not for a Gameboy on this device. The s...

Re: Request for feature: alternate font

First of all: I like the style of the HP-41's original font, but that's not my point here. The segment display was sharp, had an extremely high resolution and very good contrast. After the HP-41 (and his siblings, e.g. Voyager) it took about 30 years until you could see comparably clean representati...

Re: Persistent custom menu release 3.19.5

I think to assign shift F3 would not be so much benefit as the downside not being 100% compatible with the Original when PCM is of. If someone needs more functions with F3 then it would already possible now if you start a menu program with DM42F3. I think the actual version is near the optimum, the ...
