Re: Getting NAME ERR when I save program raw files

There are different ways to save programs. 1. The card reader way The user positions the calculator to a program via catalog-function or goto alpha <name> alpha and saves this on the data carrier (magnetic card). The content of the alpha register is irrelevant here. 2. The X-Function way The user wr...

Re: Topics that should be explained in the DM41X User Manual instead of an HP reference

It does correctly state the support is based on the 82143 printer (because it actually runs that rom) via the IR interface to the 82240A/B printer. ... Support for the MAN/TRACE/NORM modes, available on the 82143 (and therefore supported in the 41X) are described clearly in the 82160 manual, so the...

Re: Topics that should be explained in the DM41X User Manual instead of an HP reference

I can understand that, I only had a CV and never owned a CX or the Time / X module. I found many manuals and documents (besides the MoHPC DVD which I bought in 2005) at www.hp41.org (their DVD content can/could be downloaded for free from this website)

Re: New to DM41X and HP-41CX: What am I missing?

From the manual:

3.9.4. Extensions to the ED function (ASCII file editor)
Done to support lower case and special characters. The function has been renamed ED$ to signal the additional capabilities. Same XROM code of course.

Re: View/Aview refresh to slow

I had simplified the 2nd example a little too much, there were also tones (synthetic TONE Z) between the Aviews in the affected program.
Is probably the same cause as in the first example.

My DM41X also appears as a DM42 in the device manager regardless of the FAT name.

Re: Getting NAME ERR when I save program raw files

Tried it in this way with two different PRG as <new file> and it works.
I was referring NAME ERR to a wrong name for the raw file. I never had the idea to put a LBL-Name in Alpha.

Re: Getting NAME ERR when I save program raw files

Again, I’d appreciate if you’d provide us all with a step-by-step, keystroke-by-keystroke display of how YOU think .raw file saving to the FAT disk should/does take place. Thanks. So do I, because the terminology can create misunderstandings. There is: FAT-Filename i.e. calendar.raw PRG Label i.e. ...

Re: Getting NAME ERR when I save program raw files

Do you mean that you copied your programs from your PC/MAC to your DM41X FAT drive, loaded them into your DM41X memory, and then tried to resave them with the same name when the NAME ERR occurred ? Not only can't I resave any files, when I create a new program and attempt to save it, I get the same...

Re: Getting NAME ERR when I save program raw files

I reloaded all data that I had backed up to my PC hard drive. I tried again to save a program .raw file, and again got the NAME ERR message with a zero byte file stored on the FAT drive. .... Since this problem does not appear to affect all DM41X units that were shipped, it would appear that this i...
