Re: New DM42S hardware

Thanks to SM's excellent support the cosmetic issues are history now. Looking forward to the WP43S, which will be my next purchase. What was the remedy? My DM42 suffers from the same issues, along with a smudge on the case around the corner from the SwissMicros logo that exposes specks of bare meta...

Encoder - Very Minor Bug

When comments are entered on their own line in the encoder, it seems like the encoder adds another space after "@" each time it's processed. So if I start with a comment like this: @ This is a comment After running the same code through the encoder 10 times, the comment will become: @ This...

Re: DM42 works with USB but not battery

I think that the really decisive factor on a production site is the quality management and the staff made available for it. As long as the quality control is in Japanese hands, there is no need to worry seriously as a consumer. It also doesn't matter whether other Japanese companies make their prod...

Re: DM42 works with USB but not battery

Due to the effects of globalization, you have to be more careful what you buy today than ever. Today I also checked both remote controls on my TV, both still have Duracell AAA batteries, luckily they were still OK. All other devices, especially those that are not currently in use, are empty. By the...

Re: Enter Key Double Click

It's normal for the DM42 and 41X. You might notice that the ENTER key spans exactly two columns of keys (as compared to the keys above), and there are indeed two domes under the ENTER key that align with the columns above. I'm guessing that SM did it this way to avoid the additional complexity of a ...

Re: Clearing Last X Register "L"

Technically, L is not part of the stack, but I've always found that a bit weird, too. Does anyone know a better reason why CLST does not clear L? Is there a common use case where you want to CLST but still need L? I found a discussion about the general topic of LASTX at https://www.hpmuseum.org/for...

Re: 3-bit flag

Thanks Werner and Dave! I was indeed trying to compact the storage too much, resulting in more memory required for the extra instructions than the one flag (that I didn't save because the flag exists anyway). Using 4 flags seems like the way to go. Werner, flag 00 is represented by flag clear for al...

Re: 3-bit flag

Thanks for your response. The reason why I used 3 flags was because I wanted to show the dot only if the user has selected an option after starting the program. That is, there's a state "0" for the case where the user hasn't selected anything yet, resulting in a total of 5 possible states ...

3-bit flag

I'm probably getting too carried away with developing the menu system for this new program that I'm working on, but I want one of the sub-menus to show a • after the choice name if the user selected an option before and selected this particular option out of 4 (might be more for another building cod...
