Re: May 2021 Speculations

I bought one of the Martel printers off ebay for $99. It works great.

My Custom Build w/ Free42 Style Graphics

I have a custom version of DM42PGM I have been using. It uses the Free42 style display combined with some of the DM42 display features. It also adds a separator when displaying binary/hex numbers on the stack. I was curious to know if anyone else had any interest in me releasing this? I'm about to d...

Re: Any tricks for programs that write programs?

RPL certainly does this, it just feels so messy to me. The object flexibility and more command line style (no hand holding) interpreter make it super interesting for me to play with and study, but hard for me to remember and not screw up for every day use. I'm not afraid I'm going to accidentally sa...

Any tricks for programs that write programs?

Does anyone know of any tricks for making a program that writes programs, similar to the AECROM on the 41's? Some secret function that converts alpha register to program lines? As far as I can tell the AECROM edits the ram to make the program. Are there any functions like this? I could obviously ext...

Re: Delivery to California USA

I live in Denver and have had way longer than normal delays shipping things to people lately. I have two packages that just arrived yesterday from Denver to Portland and it took 16 days, from the estimated 2. I have another one going to LA which after 14 days shows that it still hasn't left Denver. ...

Re: 43S News

I'm know the forum software doesn't support this, but if a poll is going to be run everyone should have more than one vote to vote the percentage of how much they would prefer to buy a calculator with each layout.

Re: Custom soft menu display and Larger fonts possible?

I realized that there are examples of solutions to these in the C43/43C project on github.

I also now see that size 4 is the widest the font can be and still fit the 15/16 characters to match FREE42 / 42s. This also explains why size 5 only stretches vertically.

Custom soft menu display and Larger fonts possible?

Does anyone with a bit of experience in tweaking the DM42 firmware know if either of these are possible? I want to make a custom soft menu dislplay that matches the old school font, and makes the boxes a little taller. This seems possible by defining my own versions of the "lcd_draw_menu" ...

Re: Is purchasing DM16L as well as DM42 redundant?

Menus can be made persistent by activating them twice, so [Shift] [−] [Shift] [−] for the PRINT menu. The HP-42S menu system is rather sophisticated, but in a nutshell, all menus can be made sticky as shown above, but CUSTOM is always sticky, and SOLVER, ∫f(x), MATRIX, STAT, and BASE are "appl...

Re: Is purchasing DM16L as well as DM42 redundant?

I received my units last night! I'm very impressed! I wasn't expecting them to be so HEAVY by comparison to HP. One quick question that I haven't figured out by searching: Is there a way to make the PRINT menu persistent like the other menus? Should I just assign the functions I want to the CUSTOM m...
