Re: buttons that don't register well
Hi all, Sorry. I am so dumb. Do you get tactile feedback with DM42 units? I mean what feedback do you get when you press a key, other than the number corresponding to the key pressed appearing on the screen? I get nothing. I can feel I am pressing a key, but other than that I don't have anything. Al...

Re: Can't understand this result from a few calculators...
Yes, that makes sense (certainly, it makes more sense than just returning the absolute value of the complex result!). I just tried it on my FX-CG50 PRIZM and it behaves the same as above (not that surprising, really). EDIT Actually, I think condition (b) is: (b) the denominator of the (simplified) ...

Re: Can't understand this result from a few calculators...
It looks like Result 2 is the real part of the complex number in polar coordinates. That would correspond to the vector magnitude, and the imaginary part not shown is the phase angle. Is it really showing the magnitude (modulus) and not just happening to show the one result that lies on the real ax...

Thanks for the reply Mike. Result-2 is the modulus (distance from the origin to the vector in the complex plane) of...

Can't understand this result from a few calculators...
Hello everyone, I cannot understand this result from a few calculators. Please could somebody explain what is happening. When I was in High School (more than 35 years ago), I was taught that a decimal power of a negative number is a complex number. Let’s consider (-3)^3.6 and look at the result give...

Re: My Calculator DM42 ist arrived ;-)
If anyone is still keeping track: my DM42 (SN 311) arrived yesterday, the 8th of January, in Brisbane, Australia. Very, very nice! Please could you tell us how many days it took after ordering. I am in Perth and would like to know approximately how many days it would take to arrive in Australia. Th...

Re: Python to RPN converter
Wow. This is brilliant. That means in the very near future some java programmer like me could write Java code, and convert it to RPN too. Very, very exciting possibilities indeed. Providing memory permits, it probably is possible to write Java code for most of the functions an HP48 or an HP50g provi...

Re: February run of DM-42
Finally received mine in Phoenix today. Postmark was from 2/2. Customs obviously inspected the package. No damage, and the calculator was still in the sealed plastic bag, but I think it might explain why these orders are taking so long for some to arrive. In the past, I have received SM orders with...

Re: A couple additional functions that would be cool to have
1) I would like to see more math functions: Q and Q-1 for normal/inverse normal distributions. T and T-1 for students... F and F-1 for F BIO and for Binomial CORR for correlation COV for covariance 2) Utility functions for programming EVEN? ODD? X=1? X=Y(R)? --- which is X = Y rounded to display? Y...
