Re: Is purchasing DM16L as well as DM42 redundant?

DM42 now let’s you change word size for base calculations. It lets me do everything I need to do, but I’m not a real coder and don’t work with digital hardware. I’m sure the DM16 gives you some functions which might be nice. I did want to point out that one of the nice features of the DM42 is that i...

Upgraded keypad

Congrats on the release of the DM41x. Personally I’m not particularly interested as the DM42 is wonderful - I never used any of the original HP calcs so I’m not attached to any specific model. However I did notice the new DM41x has an upgraded and improved keypad. Will a retrofit be available for fi...

Re: UPDATE: DMCP-3.17 / DM42-3.15rc1

Great update! Now I can load my DM42 state onto my iPhone. Saves a lot of hassle. Also I really like the ability to change word size for base conversions. I don’t often do base conversions, but when I do it’s either 8 or 16 bits. Thanks SM and Thomas!

Re: 43S News

Bob, I think your suggestions are worthy of further discussion. Walter can be convinced: it needs evidence and justification. I’ll be honest, I’ll buy one of these calculators but have decided it’s not worth my effort voicing my opinion about anything layout related. Thus I don’t participate in thi...

Re: Converting to 1-bit

Photoshop for initial cropping and then a python script I wrote for the mono conversion and final dithering. I always loved the way Atkinson dithering looked. It reminds me of being a kid and playing on the classic Macs at my dad’s work. So I implemented it for myself when I got a DM42. Fun learning...

I definitely missed some 0’s after the update. Nothing hugely problematic but it happened a few times.

Re: Standalone DM42 decoder/encoder

I wrote an encoder in python. Haven’t done the decoder yet.

Feature requests

After owning my DM42 for about a year, I'm still really enjoying it. I had a few feature ideas/requests for future firmware versions. All of these are obviously extensions of HP-42S behavior (much like full stack display, date and time functions, etc.). At the same time, they could all be set to the...
