Re: Could someone educate me on options for HEPAX RAM size?
This is probably the easiest way to convert a single HEPRAM page into a standalone ROM with your own favourite collection of Focal programs. I am finishing the disassembler for HEPRAM pages (takes time, the devil is in the details) which gives insight in what is inside a HEPRAM module. Since you're...

Re: Could someone educate me on options for HEPAX RAM size?
The contents of HEPRAM, just like any other upper RAM pages, do indeed remain intact when you remove the HEPAX module; this is described in the docs.If you plug in another module which allocates RAM pages, they will still have their prior contents, but AFAIK, modules doing so do initialize the RAM ...

Re: Could someone educate me on options for HEPAX RAM size?
Thanks for that question, Dave, to which I would like the answer as well. While we're at it, what's the difference between the HEPAX-1D and the HEPAX-4H in Angel's module list? I've searched hither and thither but can't seem to find a description of the differences. All I find is the HEPAX-1G on hp...

Re: Could someone educate me on options for HEPAX RAM size?
HEPAX supports up to 4 RAM pages, but these are not banked. So if you want 4 RAM pages (which appears to be the maxiumum for HEPAX) it would take pages 8, 9, A and B, although the page assignment is dynamic and depends on other modules in use. In the DM41X the best option is to get a pre-cooked MOD ...

new BETA version of M2kM available for handling .ram files
It is now possible to open .ram files with M2kM. This will create a number of.rom files which can be handled in the MOD File tab to create a MOD file for use in V41, DM41X, MLDL2000 or a .rom file for the 41CL, Clonix/NoVRAM or MLDL2000. I have a new BETA available for M2kM. Many, many changes under...

Re: DM42 with homemade printer
Here in NL things are pretty easy. We can prepare the package and print the labels (including the customs declaration), pay online and we take that to the PO. Actually we do not have PO's anymore, these are usually desks in supermarkets, pretty well spread across town and very service oriented. At t...

Re: DM42: IR-receiver photodiode specs?
There is a Technical Intefacing Guide for the 82240B IR printer (downloadable here: https://www.hpcalc.org/details/4742 ) which has all the gory details and specifies the 940 nm as quoted earlier. From my own experience I can confirm that the IR frequency is uncritical, but the modulation frequency ...

Re: Use the IR of DM42(or any HP calculator) for commercial IR?
Although i own a HP82240, I'm experimenting to create a RedEye to serial interface using eighter a microcontroller or an FPGA (trying both paths) The Idea is to hookup small ticket printers i found in my junkbox. It'l take some time to get results but if you are interested i'll drop some posts late...

Re: Blue Sky feature idea relating to flash memory
Wishful thinking ... functionality to have this kind of access would be nice though.
And the possibilities of IR communication (one way at least) are not exhausted, you could do much more than just printer emulation
