Re: 43S News
Remember that the programme is currently under construction, so the OwnMan is also under construction! Indeed. However if the manual isn't working, I imagine the project wants that information about that so they can improve it. If the grey S does not appear to the right of the 4, then the alphabeti...

Re: 43S News
I now have the WP 43S software (0.21.3) successfully[1] installed on my DM42 and it has been a bit of a bumpy ride so far, as maybe can be expected with pre-alpha level software. My original plan was to work through the Owner's Manual with the calculator in hand, but as I was only just into Part 1 o...

Re: 43S News
I have (moderately successfully) printed and applied the keyboard template to my DM42S.
Next step: install the WP 43S software onto the calculator.

Re: Calculating with Units
once you put SI data in a reasonable calculation, your calculator will always return reasonable SI data; so there's no need for pulling through any units whatsoever. Provided the calculator has a good system for converting units (which one could use at the beginning and end of a calculation), I agr...

Re: Calculating with Units
For the rest of the world, OTOH, this shouldn't be an issue anymore: once you put SI data in a reasonable calculation, your calculator will always return reasonable SI data; so there's no need for pulling through any units whatsoever. Before stating this as a general law I want to ask for confirmat...

Re: 43S News
The easiest may be to print p. B-20 of the Reference Manual (its penultimate page). It should be to scale. I had already looked at the image on p. B-20 of the Reference Manual (because Appendix F directs the reader there), but sadly, in the copy [1] of the Reference Manual that I have, the image on...

Re: 43S News
Programming works (thanks to Mihail!)! Aha! Now is the time for me to try out the 43S! Thank you. I've downloaded the manuals, source code, and the DM42 image file and I have a question already after reading Appendix F of the Reference Manual. Is WP43S_layout.svg the best file to print to make a ke...

Re: May 2021 Speculations
Do you have an example showing what’s not aesthetic with the current font ? Just curious... , I don’t own a DM41X. On pictures it’s seems like the original... Sorry, no, I don't. I'm inclined to believe that there is no absolute aesthetic existing like a Pythagorean ideal, but rather that beauty is...

Re: May 2021 Speculations
I thought I'd take a turn at the idle speculation game: 1. An upgrade to the DM41X / DM42 platform (more memory, better keyboard, higher quality key printing etc.) or a new platform altogether. 2. A new calculator on the existing platform, maybe a 43. 3. Full-featured i/o for the DM41X (RS-232, HP-I...

Re: Bulge in the steel case of DM41X and suggested solution
After reading this topic I've recently bent the case of my calculator so that all four feet touch the ground and I have a couple of observations to add here. 1. In my case there wasn't a discrete bulge in the middle of the case; rather the case was uniformly curved across both the width and length o...
