So I’m holding back on a purchase of the DM42 for one or two reasons.......
One being this proposed? DM43S - it is being proposed isn’t it ?
Never having had the original HP42 (nor a working WP43S, I got as far as sticking the button labels on ) .....When and if it’s made what’s going to sway me to one or the other ?
Does/Will one have substantially more features/functions ?..... or is a case of a completely different subset of features/functions ?

Not a DM43s, as far as I can tell, a WP43s with DM42 (like) hardware.
Re: DM42 vs DM43S
Well, it depends on how much you're ready to wait for your next calculator: you can order the DM42 right now, while the WP 43S is still vaporware and is nowhere near completion, it's specification has been on the drawing board for a few years already but no software implementation has surfaced so far.
DM42: 00425 - DM41X: β00066 - WP43: 00042

Well if Swiss Micros make it , it will become a DM43S surelykeithdalby wrote: ↑Sat May 12, 2018 9:17 pmNot a DM43s, as far as I can tell, a WP43s with DM42 (like) hardware.

Re: DM42 vs DM43S
Why? Casio made the HP10s (don't try to tell me differently, it's a [swear word censored] Casio clone), but that carries the HP label, so clearly there isn't always correlation between the manufacturer and the label on the calculator.
The hardware for the WP34s is HP, but it isn't called an HP34s.

Ah , ok , gotcha , maybe just a case of semanticskeithdalby wrote: ↑Sat May 12, 2018 9:52 pmWhy? What would you envisage the DM version being called ? .. given that it’s HP hardware derived version is called the WP43s

WP43s. There's a whole thread about it here. Walter even names it a WP43s elsewhere: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=282&p=3885&hilit=Wp43s#p3885
Re: DM42 vs DM43S
Ooops I've just realised you typoed the model number and I copied you (edited to the correct 43s now)
So yes I know it's a WP43s, as i said I got as far as fitting the label sheet a few years back and then didn't follow through reflashing it.
I think it was because of the label situation after fitting that I lost interest in it.....
But I could def be interested in a ground up (non sticky label keyboard) version of it....
So I go back to my original question ....Why would I buy one instead of the other? (if they both existed today i.e. a DM42 and a DM43)

Re: DM42 vs DM43S
How? It doesn't exist yet. The WP34s does. I suspect you're getting mixed up between the WP34s and the WP43s.
