To my understanding the DM42 and DM43 are members of the same series of calculators: same size, same display.
Changing the numpad between DM42 and DM43 would be confusing.

I'm not sure what you are saying here, H2X. The Voyagers (10C, 11C, 12C, 15C, & 16C) all use the same Numpad arrangement, and within the constraints of their obviously different landscape orientation, it is the same arrangement as almost all of the post-41 calculators plus also the WP34s, WP31s, and DM42: 1) Enter Key on left 2) Math Operators on Right 3) Math Operator Order top to bottom = / * – +.

Krauts in Space is merely arguing (as am I) not to fiddle with that. It works.

Forgive me if this has been discussed a lot already - no rehash intended - but the two things about the keyboard to me that I'm not happy happy about are PI being a primary key and x! seemingly all by itself down there.

I understand why x! is shift multiply but nearly everything down that direction is a menu except for the trig (again, understand why there) and then x!.
Well, I swapped the colours for MATX, x!, PROB, and STAT now, so it becomes more evident that x! is next to PROB wherein also COMB and PERM live.

And about primary PI: if you know another function deserving this primary location then please come up with your suggestion.

(Edited to correct an error in a foreign language.)

Please forgive my ignorance, but I'm a tiny bit confused. Is this WP43S in collaboration with SwissMicros or a homebrew project making use of the DM42 hardware?
Interested too in finding out , where this project is going ......

Will it be a DM machine similar to the DM42 ?
Using the same base chassis and electronics in fact ? .....i.e. a reprogrammed 42 basically with new button set (not labels) , made by DM just like the 42?

Will hold back on a 42 if that's the case

Using the same hardware would be appreciated. Though who knows ...

Are you talking about the math operators + enter keys only? I didn't get that - sorry if that was the point.

However, I don't see why the 43S must have the same arrangement of anything as the DM42. Just ignore the fact that the box looks the same. They are different calculators.
What is the metric tensor in imperial units?

There were many threads about the 43S on the forum of the MoHPC for many years. Just search for '43S' there.

In June 2016, however, a fatal shooting occurred in the US of A (once more) -- and I responded (to somebody lamenting about the number of persons shot) wishing the USA less bullets (less bullets = less casualties, quite obvious IMHO). This wish of mine turned out being a head-on collision with the MoHPC forum administration (looks like the NRA's backing them, presumably). Since that, I'm banned there.

Hence, almost everything sound about the 43S is now published here, obviously closer to the cradles of reason, democracy, and enlightenment.

What a peculiar decision for them to make.

On the subject of SwissMicros endorsement of the WP43s project: DM42 hardware with WP43s faceplate and keys is completely different to DM42 with stickers. The first would be a professional piece of kit. The latter? I wouldn't want to buy it for the same reason I don't want a WP34s. Not a fan of retrofitted stickers that can wear off and peel off.

That's my personal preference and I mean no offense at all! I feel that SwissMicros endorsement, with them actually making the hardware, is different to WP43s piggybacking on the DM42 platform.

I concur. We're heading in the same direction.

Yesssss

I'd buy the suggested DM43 just for the busy plate , it'd for sure make sure no-one would want to borrow it :D

Well not really , I'd buy it cos I like the 43 project ** but I'd want it done in hardware not with sticky labels. (I did buy a sticker kit from the guy a couple of years ago but never got the time to do anything other than stick the labels on  :?

I want a proper 43 in DM's clothing....
