[DM41] Should alarms turn DM41 on ?

Post by pinkman »

Hi,
I happily and recently bought a DM41.
I have a question about alarms : should they turn on the machine so that it can be used as an alarm clock, for example?

I only have alarms ringing when I turn on the device, it might be a long time after the alarm was due...

Thanks.

Indeed they should, yes. Unless they're conditional alarms, I think, although I'm not entirely sure.

For chapter and verse I suggest you run an internet search for the manual of the HP-82182A Time Module, which is built into the HP-41CX that the DM41 emulates.

Thanks for your fast answer.
Unfortunately it doesn't work the way it should, or I missed some parameter.

A: HELLO
t: any value
z: 0
y: 0
x: 13.4500
XEQ XYZALM

The alarm is correctly recorded in Catalog 5, but at 13:45 it doesn't wake up the calculator if it was turned off.
If I turn on the calculator at 13:55 (for example), then it rings, showing the "HELLO" message.

Also notice that the stopwatch doesn't work, and the clock screen ([A]+ON) is freezed. :(

Hmm... This looks like it might be a hardware problem. I'm escalating it.

I received a replacement unit, a DM41L because Michael said there might be a generic problem on other DM41 's.

I confirm that the clock function works ([A]+[ON] or [f] [CLK]), but the XYZALM function does not seem to work properly.

ALPHA: HELLO
t: 0.0000
z: 0.0000
y: 0.0000
x: 16.3000
XEQ XYZALM

The alarm is stored in CAT 5, but it does not wake up the calculator if it has been turned off before 16:30. If I turn it on manually then the past-due alarm rings. If it is on when the time comes, then it rings also.

Fyi : [LN]+[ON] => DM41 V24 48MHZ 2.680V RTC

Anybody with a recent DM41L (my S/N# is 00888) having the same issue ?
For those whose XYZALM function works properly, which S/N#, which firmware version ?

Thanks.
