Interesting Synchronicities...

Post by zeno333 » Fri Dec 29, 2017 2:17 pm

Interesting synchronicities...

CPUs run in my family...The first PC 32 bit CPU the Intel 80386 came out on my birthday...the first 32 bit CPU, for the Macintosh, the Motorola 68020 came out on my sister's birthday, and the Intel 8086 in which the architecture is still the basis for PCs came out on my Grandfather's on my Dad's side birthday. I was married at the exact mid-point to the day between when the Macintosh first came out and the first version of Windows first came out...My first job used IBM 3270 display terminals and I was born 3,270 days after my parents were married...I was born at the exact midpoint to the day between when my Mom was born and the day the Wolfram Mathematica program first came out...And the serial number of my DM42 is 387, the number for the math coprocessor for the 80386 CPU that came out on my birthday.

You are no conspiracy theorist, are you? Ever heard of chance coincidences? Given enough relatives, dates, and events well stirred and you'll end up with a list like yours.

Well, well. Horoscopes are made this way as well. Enjoy!

I was born on 26th October,
26×10=260
260÷360=72%, which is how much of my life has passed before the Apophis asteroid ends all life on Earth.
Coincidence?

Congrats on your dm42 f/w upgrade.
I have read your posts on the apparent lack of detailed and precise instructions to do a safe upgrade.
I must confess that i tend to be on the safe side as you did, specially when i'm dealing with something new to me.

The ibm 3270! I have implemented a few ibm sna networks in my previous professional life.
The 3278 was a very common terminal in the good old days of the mainframe computing.

I have supported and repaired quite a few 80386/387 based PC's as well.
Nice powerfull intel processors able to do multitasking and providing process memory virtualization thru VAS. I believe it was the 1st generation to support these features.
