Creating a custom keyboard

If one were to adopt the DM42 as a hardware platform for some software other than the original, it seems inevitable that the keys and faceplate would need to be replaced.

Might someone on or close to the Swiss Micros team, or otherwise in the know, want to comment on the feasibility of having a small run of decent keys / faceplates made?

I guess that a custom faceplate is the simplest problem, pushing the keys to the center stage. They should of course feel good, no less so than the DM42 itself, and have durable legends printed on them.

Could they be 3D printed? Would it be possible to order small quantities via Swiss Micros, from their original supplier(s)? Would the cost be reasonable?

Check out this production video for the DM42. You may find this useful ... that is, if you haven't already seen it yet. (please forgive me if you already have :)
