DM15L degrees issue

Post by zooropa1844 »

Good evening, fellow collectors and users,
I recently bought a DM15L and being a complete newbie to the machine I am puzzled because when setting it to degrees DEG I get different answers for sine and cosine of 45 degrees.

Is there any known issue about this topic in any of the firmwares? What can I be doing wrong?

Cheers,

Javier

The same ones I get when I set the angle unit to GRAD. For the sin 0.850903525 and for the cos 0.525321989.

It sounds like the calculator is in Complex mode. In that mode, the trigs work in radians, regardless of the DEG/RAD/GRAD setting.

When you set DEG, there should be no annunciator in the bottom of the LCD (vs. "RAD" vs. "GRAD" when those modes are set); is this correct on your machine?

If so, please provide exact key sequences, such as:

[f][FIX][9]
[g][DEG]
[4][5] [SIN] => 0.707106781
[4][5] [COS] => 0.707106781

Also, what version is your ROM?

See button [E] on this page: https://www.swissmicros.com/instructions.php to see how to show the version.

Thank you, guys, after a power reset which finished with a Pr Error message is working right. It probably was in complex mode as Thomas guessed. I am kind of embarrassed but for sure it is not the calculator I am used to, and besides I allowed my toddler to mess with it this afternoon although only a few seconds.

Thank you all of you!!
