Where are the calculators manufactured?

Post by dieselgg »

I just want to get an idea on possible import fees/taxes when ordering from Canada.

Gus

Hello Gus,

I live near Montreal and I never had any fees nor taxes to pay (lucky?) from my orders coming from SwissMicros or from any European sellers for that matters, things are a lot worse for items bought in USA thought. (YMMV)

What is killing us Canadian at the moment are the exchange rates. :cry:
-> from xe.com /// 1 EUR = 1.59277 CAD /// 1 CHF = 1.36122 CAD /// 1 USD = 1.28881 CAD ///

Regards,

Sylvain

The calculators are produced in China, final assembly is in done in Switzerland and that's also where they ship from.
I've just been visiting the production sites, see this video https://www.facebook.com/jeremy.chatela ... 105169073/

Thanks a lot for sharing this video! :D

I just wonder how you found this factory. The injection moulds cost quite a bit, the stamping tools a bit less, but all the product specific tools sum up to quite an investment IMHO.

I hear you man.. Since the socalled blue-blue "government" of Norway has been in charge, the Norwegian Krone (or should I say "monopoly money") sunk like a stone from €1=NOK7,22 to €1=NOK9,65 and CHF1=NOK~5,50 to NOK 8,20.. :(

Thanks for the video. It's very interesting to see how the different parts of the SwissMicros calculators are manufactured. I'm quite impressed by the mold for the DM42 front/keyboard.

Watching the video, I spotted this:

I don't recognise the part. A new model, perhaps?
