@Walter - for further clarity, could you please post the latest complete keyboard and sample LCD images together in one Post? It will make it easier to reference (e.g. via bookmark) in one place without scrolling back and forth through multiple pages of varying designs with much discussion in between. No rush for this, when convenient.

Screen shows output of [L.R.] for FIX 4 with BESTF chosen.

What's new? Some label swaps and a primary menu TRG for trigonometric functions. The latter has the advantage you can access sin, cos, tan, and their inverses via a single keystroke instead of always needing two.

EDIT: And if you're diligent enough to anticipate you're going to write black characters on a white LCD, you should be able to negotiate an appropriate frame colour (cf. the first version of the HP-42S):

Found out we can't do anything against the black frame of the LCD itself. But we can minimize its effects within the boundary conditions given:

How about a black frame around it?

I'm not sure I get your point. Feel free to paint your proposal.

Certainly viable. I'd leave it to the community to decide what's more attractive, beautiful, intriguing, etc.

H2X's scheme gets my vote, but perhaps with black around the function keys too.

i don't really get it; why is everybody against a plastic LCD bezels ??!! (just like 48g or 42s)
i really do think it is way more attractive and authentic than the glossy smart-phone-like black gorilla glass

Yes, it looks weird with the black/white split across the background.

I think black or grey function keys would look better too.
