Will it be possible to show / hide the rows of soft key labels on the bottom of the screen, to see actual mathematics instead?
Mind you, I am one of those (or perhaps the only one?) who likes to always see the "default" soft menu on the DM42 and probably will on the 43S as well - if the soft keys do anything, I'd like to see what, but 1/3 (edited) of the screen is a lot of space sometimes...
Which kind of space devouring mathematics do you have in mind?
Whatever menu view is called last will stay on screen until
it is either EXITed explicitly
or another view is called.
If no menu is called explicitly, 'MyMENU' will be displayed. MyMENU is empty when the 43S is shipped - it may be loaded with up to 18 items by the user.

... and it's even viable. Just for logarithmic fits you loose a digit more, meaning output of fit parameters will have a somewhat limited precision but sufficient for the real world by far.
Is a size reduction possible for the fit equation? Split it over two lines? Rename a0 and a1 as a and b? Other shortcut?
This text is purely informational, so maximum readability needn't be a strict requirement.
Of course, 8 significant digits is more than adequate for real world use
Let's assume I was crazy enough to set display to maximum (FIX 15) and run a regression where the log model turns out being the best fitting one. Then, after calling L.R. by pressing the leftmost softkey I may get a screen like this:

Then, any keystroke (like pressing [f] [f] for NOP) will change this to the following display:

Do you want more digits? If true, why?

For programming, 7 lines of program can be shown at once. Programming paradigm is going to follow HP-42S, Free42, DM42, etc.
Graphing was not intended originally (enough graphing calcs on this planet, used for gaming predominantly). I like, however, what the community came up with for plotting functions on the DM42. Not decided yet.

Looking back at the keyboard layout, I have a question.
Why are the operators /*-+ on the left and the exit, up, down... on the right?
Having used the HP32, HP42s, and the DM42, I am used to having the on/off/exit in the lower left, and the operators on the right. I don't know that the submenus for the keys would be in the wrong place, but I know I would have to make a massive mental adjustment to start going to the lower right to turn the calculator on and off.
I think it's just my personal preference, please don't pay me any more attention. I'm clearly in the minority
Hey Keith, don't you surrender! I'm still waiting for your explanation since there are a number of places you may have found more or less cluttered - but I simply don't know where you were refferring to (but I want to).
