Printing to my 82240B I sometimes get the printer stopping and the DM42 is frozen. The printing symbol is displayed and a ((.)) symbol but the DM42 does not respond to keypresses. Cannot turn it off, cannot interrupt it with R/S.
I have to do a complete memory reset with a paperclip in the hole on the back - and lose everything in the DM42.
Needless to say this is a major problem for me, as I like to use the printer quite often. The DM42 should never lock up irretrievably like this, leading to complete loss of all data. Its happened twice in the last 10 minutes. Lighting is dim and peaceful.
Printing freeze
Re: Printing freeze
And the other issue I'm getting is that the 82240B printer itself sometimes freezes - seems to be prevalent in trace or norm modes. See attached screenshot - notice the black block that gets emitted immediately prior to the freeze. The red light on the front of the printer goes out and I have to turn the printer off and on to recover. The DM42 itself does not freeze in this scenario, which is good.
Anyone else with a 82240B care to turn printing trace mode on and let me know if you are getting the same issues? I was just printing the stack, printing x with PRX and then hitting SIN COS TAN repeatedly - doesn't take long to happen.

Re: Printing freeze
I eventually get a lockup of the calculator but no black blocks printed and the red LED is still on in the printer. This is on a production unit with ver 3.3 installed.tcab wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2018 8:26 amAnd the other issue I'm getting is that the 82240B printer itself sometimes freezes - seems to be prevalent in trace or norm modes. Re: Printing freeze
Does the calculator lock up while printing when powered by USB? I'm wondering whether it is caused by a drop in voltage from the battery.tcab wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2018 7:44 amPrinting to my 82240B I sometimes get the printer stopping and the DM42 is frozen. Re: Printing freeze
I don't know about ijabbot but using the USB cable did eliminate the lockup for me. I'm using a production unit with firmware 3.3.ijabbott wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2018 1:39 pmDoes the calculator lock up while printing when powered by USB? Re: Printing freeze
Hello,
I was testing the HP41 Navigation pac on the DM 42 with printing on the HP 82240B.
And after the six run with other data the printer stopping and the DM42 is frozen.
The printing symbol is displayed and a ((.)) symbol but the DM42 does not respond to keypresses. Cannot turn it off, cannot interrupt it with R/S.
So I reset ( Paperclip ) the DM 42 and get the message to reported REG ID d3770103 FW3.3
kind regards
Rupert
