RTC or timer?

Post by cappy »

Does the microcontroller in the DM42 have a RTC in it, or are the date/time based on a timer?
I'm not having any issues, I'm jsut curious. The HP-41 is the first calc that I've used that has a RTC in it (if you have the time module, that is).

The photo of the components https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mKbzJWq42sw/ ... ew-pcb.jpg shows a 32.768 kHz crystal which supports RTC and other system clock needs. Since RTC's continue to keep time when most of the micro-controller is powered down, the DM42 time clock most likely uses the RTC for it's date and time of day functions.
