In fact, I was considering posting a request to enable quick viewing of and cycling through the Off images. Something like add a fifth option to the “File” menu:

5. Off Images >

Selecting this new option would bring up a list of Off images, similar to the list of programs shown when Option 1 is selected. You would then select from this list to view the image. Whilst viewing an image, pressing the up and down arrows would cycle through the images. Exit would take you back to the list.

Any supporters?
It could be helpful.
I would suggest also to offer an option to choose if to cycle or not. For now I like the cycle, but it would be nice sometimes to have the same image if desired.

Why not just make another directory for the images you don't want to cycle and only out the images you do what to cycle in OFFIMG?

I am surprised something as superficial as the off image as induced so much excitement

the reason is that some of us (me) are like a kids (a 54's kid here) and we amuse with those aesthetic features :)

No judgement on my part, I was excited with the novelty of it too at first

I'd like that option! I'd also like the option to select one or more pictures as power off screens and not have to cycle through all the pictures in the directory.

OK, so now “5. Off Image >” will bring up a list of the off images with the select boxes, e.g. “(_) Eagle”, like the list you get when you select “2. Save Program >”, and a menu at the bottom to view or select for rotation as off images. The ones you select get rotated. If you select only one that’s the one that’s always displayed.

That would require connection to a computer, it would be nice to be able to manage on the calculator. Plus we still need the means to view the images at will, rotation management could come along for the ride if that capability is developed along the lines I suggested above.

If you give a group of talented, creative and industrious people (I claim at most part of one of these attributes), some are bound to take to it to see what can be done. It’s kind of fun - I find myself viewing most images with the thought “I wonder how that would look as a DM42 Off Image.”

Yes! That's what I'd like to see.

I tend to concur with Keith. The off-images are a nice additional feature but at the bottom line the dm42 is a calculator. This thread recollects the numerous graphic calcs in high school most times just used for playing instead of doing math.

I like this feature as it is but vote against putting any more of David's precious time in this icing of the cake.

Wow! You sure know how to turn a phrase! You're obviously not a native English speaker. We know words like that, we just don't use words like that!

Also, you are hereby banned from the "People who like to turn the calculator on and off to see all the pretty pictures" club. Your self control is enviable.
Copasetic.

My only excuse is that I learned English in Virgina, USA, from my brother in law, who was born in North Carolina. Probably not so good a karma.
