3D printed hardcase for DM42

Post by wawachief »

Hi

I'm not a big fan of the pouch to protect my precious in hostile environments so I designed and 3Dprinted a hardcase. Here is some photos.
I like the HP-28 style that it gives :)

I join the STL file for those who are interested and have a 3D printer.

Very nice!
How long does each piece take to print?
Did you have to drill the holes in the hinge? I can’t imagine that could be printed.
How much 3D printing plastic did you use?

The case is printed in one piece. No drill or assembly needed. The hinge is designed to be printed and articulated.
The total print time is about 6 hours, and the plastic weight is about 75g of PLA.

The case is a remix of this original post on thingiverse :

Is it meant to be printed laying flat or on its end? The link to the buckle box on Thingverse didn't say, but from the printing contours, it looks like it is printed flat.

I have one going now, but to make it fit in the print area, I had to stand it on its end, diagonally across the platform.

Thank you for making this available.
