I posted this earlier in the DM42 Beta Units/ OS forum, which may be a little quiet. There is a thread with the same title there. (Apologies for the repetition.)
I'm very interested in this question. I have a number of programs that I use daily, would be great to record the output to virtual thermal paper (.txt file or .gif). If this can be saved to the FAT drive like Screenshots for export to PC, even better.
On a related topic, has anyone got a program that can be used to record thoughts/ notes for later use? Ideally a "HP 42s" program, but if necessary could I knock-together a program using the new SDK?
Forgot to mention, love the DM 42 hardware, obviously, amd the software implementation is wonderful
Will the DM42 have a print option like Free42 on android?
Re: Will the DM42 have a print option like Free42 on android?
We actually plan to add this functionality soon or later. The DM42 3.9.1 program with Free42 2.0.21 update is almost ready for release, but I can prioritize this thing to next release and add at least the text printing to file there.

That would be a cool feature to have. You could always save the printout as HTML, and use image tags with "data:" URLs to embed the graphical portions.

Wonderful, thank you. Text would be great, and extremely useful. .gif would be cool, but much lower priority for me.
The idea of sending a request (by fax back then, obviously) to a large calculator company requesting a new feature for my old ** 32 sii and getting a response in hours.....
Re: Will the DM42 have a print option like Free42 on android?
I remain extremely happy with the DM42, and am still very impressed with how quickly the print-to-file facility was added. At the risk of appearing pushy, and asking for something(s) else less than a year later.
- A way to view the printed-to-text file generated on the unit.
- Could the help file viewer be re-purposed for this?
- A simple text-editor/ note-taker:
- Using one of the Function Keys (say F4) to activate
- I use Markdown for keeping notes, the Function Keys could be used to insert #..#, -, * [x], * [ ] etc., or mapped to whatever.
- Code-folding, using Markdown headers or a LBL line, for example, would be super-super-super
- Search facility (Search & Replace, or am I just being silly now).
- Incorporating the encoder/ decoder
