Any landing from which you can walk away is regarded as a good landing... :lol:
And seeing all those problems: they should have hired the DM-team to find all those problems beforehand. The proof? I cannot recall having heard that the DM42 had any engine trouble so far, did it?

Actually, biggest scare is checked lithium battery powered devices;

In simulator today on a trip from Beijing to Toronto and will experience a flight control jammed forcing a return to Beijing, dumping fuel, calculating stop distances, brake energy, fuse plug melting, landing distance at max overweight landing, tire rotation max speed considerations and compound that with language problems.

Once landed, start over (normally at pub with beer after that kind of a day) and try again but enroute over Russia,Yakutsk we have a fire problem in the cabin requiring an emergency max speed descent to Yakut airport for vodka.

Yep, airplanes don’t think yet, hopefully pilots do :?:

Novosibirsk has a nice vodka airport, too. ;)

For clarification,

Those scenarios are in the simulator! Although from a world wide perspective they are based on real life incidents/accidents from around the world.

They are “what ifs” to test procedures, knowledge, level of understanding, competency... a crash, even in the simulator is a failure event :oops:

Ah the united dc 10 Sioux City. I was on the 10 and we practiced that in the sim. Had dinner with the captain of that flight while he was on a speaking tour.

The B787 uses electric servos for all back up. At the most the loss of all hydraulics results in a compromised but completely flyable aircraft! Lessons learned.

Congrats, looks like you'll soon be PIC of a heavy jet. All those scenarios you train for sound rather scary, but it looks like you were prepared for all of them. Does the training include failures that come as a surprise? After all, you don't announce to your passengers before taxiing to the runway that "Today we're going to have an engine failure four hours into the flight and 300nm from the nearest land (Greenland) so we'll have to return to Gander where you can't buy anything to eat, but don't worry, we've prepared for exactly that scenario", do you?

Reminds me of this: "Don't worry, if one engine fails, the other will take us directly to the place of the accident."

Seriously, Happy Landings, and show us that DM42 on the flight deck!
