My Calculator DM42 ist arrived ;-)
Re: My Calculator DM42 ist arrived ;-)
Correct. If you turn the LCD on but don't update any of its pixels while it's switched on, it'll consume 50μW.AlexFekken wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2017 1:26 amactually says: 50 micro Watt for a static image on a 400x240 display. So who is right?
If you then withdraw the power altogether, lo and behold as if by magic, the image stays there.
Try it. Switch your DM42 off and remove the battery.

Hi,
Very nice indeed!
How long will the image stay with power removed?
Indefinitely or depending on a capicitor?
Sincèrement, Sincerely, 73,

That, I don't know. Remanance is always down to a capacitance somewhere in the circuit so I'm guessing it will discharge after some time.

Maybe you could post this finding to the subforum for hardware issues, for better visibility ?

Mine arrived today! Almost gave up hope to get it for Christmas. Pouch fits fine. Keys are good but could be softer for my taste, but consistent. Only Enter need a slightly firmer press. Screen is fine but requires a well lit environment to shine. View angel not the greatest but ok in good light. Happy so far.

At this time of year, the View angels are singing "Glory to the newborn King!"
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Haha, my sloppy typing. But seriously, the viewing angle is not great with only one indoor light source, but not a problem if there is daylight. For the keys, I come from using Casios and a Canon F-789SGA calculator with extremely soft keys, which I actually like. Even the keys on my rather new HP-12c feels softer than this (maybe because of their size/shape). I kind of doubt they will wear in and become softer, but I'm getting used to it. When using the thumbs to press keys, it works OK.

If anyone is still keeping track: my DM42 (SN 311) arrived yesterday, the 8th of January, in Brisbane, Australia.
Very, very nice!

Agreed. #727 arrived at my address last week and it is such a pleasure to use. I wasn't going to miss an opportunity to own the most powerful RPN slide rule calculator ever made. The layout is so clean. The case exudes quality. The screen is just wonderful. Very happy with this fine product.
