The DM41L is sweet and has it's aficionados (myself included).
A DM42L would definitely find buyers (myself) even with only two (2) lines display.

The DM41P is useless to my eyes if it only runs the original ROM in emulation. That would greatly limit it's capability. Only a re-written DM41P makes sens. In this case I'm in!

The next great move would be a WP43s, so no more "we cannot add this feature because it's not in the original HPxx spirit".
Sincèrement, Sincerely, 73,
Boubker

TI-89 titanium, CASIO fx-cg50 and Numworks (to play with micropython)

At least it would run it as it was meant to be.

Ask yourself why there are so few examples of HP landscape calculators (Voyagers and 7x). But they, at least, were meant to be made in landscape format, so there's logic in key positioning and function grouping.

When you turn a portrait calculator in a horizontal shape, instead, everything is in the wrong place.

I am not in the religious debate of portrait vs landscape.
That's users personal preference and SM sales opportunities...

Just saying that (to my eyes) running a simple NUT emulator on the DM42 hardware to simulate an HP41CX and adding stack display isn't worth it. Whereas rewriting the HP-41CX for the DM42 hardware "à la" Free42 is well worth it!
And don't forget that HP-42s had no I/O whereas HP41-CX has, so we will be missing something important on a DM41P that we are not missing on a DM42.

That's all, no portrait vs lanscape debate ;)

Sorry, now I see that my pro-portrait battle made me read your DM41P as DM41L
I concur with your view: but I think it would be hard for SM to rewrite the 41 mainframe, while Free42 was already implemented by Thomas.
Just using the existing USB port would let us load external ROMs and HP-IL by means of something on the line of PilBox.

Dreaming...

Feel free to turn your DM42 as often as you want.
I refuse to believe I'm a lone voice. There must be more demand for a landscape DM42 than just me.
No.

Awesome! I just flashed my 41L, and I'm seeing the extra space in EMROOM. I don't suppose there's enough unused space in flash to fit the Advantage module, is there? That would make the 41L pretty much "complete" for me.

EDIT: Nope, looks like there's maybe about 4 KB free, but the Advantage module is 16 KB. Nuts.

I just updated my DM 15L to V25, and the new font looks great. What I really would love in the future, is when also the segments font would also be available in medium thickness.

Thanks for the new firmware! :)
